Yeah, it's a very interesting problem and one that wasn't obvious to me until I read about it.Well, had to google what Baumol's cost disease is. Seems a good description of the problem.

I care if it was German tissue paper. That stuff is far superior to US made. It's like questioning him for saying he used a Kleenex to blow his nose when it was the store brand tissue paper. Who gives a flying fuck?
Another Great Depression would likely lower prices generally too though! Really just wins all around.
It reminds me of how conservatives frequently talk about how gas was like $1.50 a gallon in 2020 without noting that the method to achieve that was a global pandemic virus.
REALLY?My current election map thoughts:
- Looking like fracking ban history (and not picking Shapiro) may very well be the margin of loss in Pennsylvania for Harris, she is being hammered in north western Pennsylvania again for those past statements in ads, and it will cost the Democrats a lot of votes there that will be hard to replace. PA has rapidly grown to become the 2nd largest producer of natural gas, behind only Texas.
- And Netanyahu / Gaza (partially enflamed by Russian bots) may lose Michigan for Harris, even though Trump is in every possible way far worse for Palestinians.
Leaving Dems needing to take 4 out of 5 of Wisconsin, North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona, and Nevada. Not that they should give up on Michigan or Pennsylvania, but both look to be right on the edge and more likely than not to flip red.
Dems really need to hammer the airwaves on Trump/abortion/Roe "I did that", which Trump is trying to nowrun awaygolfcart from for very good reason.
No mention of GA, which could easily determine the outcome of this election?REALLY?
How did ignoring the Rust Belt and trying to expand the map work out for Hillary? (I realize you're not advocating for that strategy.)
It is questionable to now say PA and MI are likely to flip, and most credible people don't think Harris can win the EC without sweeping the Rust Belt trio. Based on current polling averages, winning PA+MI is still more likely than AZ+NC, but it's all within margin of error.*
Reality is that Dems were about 5 points down across all the battleground states in mid July, and now are roughly tied or up by a small gap.
Right now it's still looking like a coin flip and those who are predicting an Obama-style wave need to put down their rose-colored glasses for a bit.
* According to 538, Harris holds about a 2% lead in both PA and MI, while AZ and NC are effectively tied.
I dunno, ask an average 90%er how far they are from living in temporary housing. For example about 25% of NYC's public school students live in temporary housing, without which they would be homeless. That's pretty different from being middle class.
The 90th percentile makes about $215,000 a year. I think they are pretty far from temporary housing.I dunno, ask an average 90%er how far they are from living in temporary housing.
Depends on where they live, that bar might be too high though, how about 80-100k for household? That's around 85th percentile. The 90th percentile makes about $215,000 a year. I think they are pretty far from temporary housing.
This interview is ridiculous. Non stop attempting to get a gotcha moment. Dana legit questioned Tim walz if we can trust him because they didn't get IVF but an IUI. What the actual fuck
But what if he said Kleenex, and he actually uses paper towels? We can't have liars like this in the white house. If he'll lie about a Kleenex he'll lie about anything. It really was a pretty stupid interview but I thought she handled it very well.
The worst part to me was they basically asked Walz 3 questions just trying to get him in a "gotcha" moment about how he worded stuff. I mean she even asked if the American people should be worried about trusting him because he said they went through IVF when I guess it was IUI or some other acronym. Like who gives a shit? It's all fertility treatment. He probably said IVF because that is the common one everyone knows.

I mentioned it vaguely; across the Rust Belt, Sun Belt, and NC battleground states, Harris has on average a very small lead. And we should be honest; if you're up by 1 point, then you're basically tied, no matter how lackluster of a campaign DJT is currently running. No mention of GA, which could easily determine the outcome of this election?
There is nowhere in this country where someone making $200k is in danger of homelessness unless they’ve made some seriously bad life choices. I live in one of the most expensive zip codes in the US and you can live here perfectly fine on $200k.Depends on where they live, that bar might be too high though, how about 80-100k for household? That's around 85th percentile.
What is confusing here?Trump says he opposes Florida amendment granting right to abortion
Former president Donald Trump in an interview Friday voiced opposition to a ballot initiative that would make abortion legal in Florida until fetal viability. His remarks came a day after he criticized Florida’s six-week abortion ban for being overly restrictive. Trump is holding a rally in Johnstown, Pa. After the rally, he plans to appear at a national summit in Washington of Moms for Liberty, a conservative parental rights organization that has advocated removing mentions of LGBTQ+ identity and structural racism from school classrooms.
WTF?
Hey, never tried that. I would today, but no hot dogs in the house, Dang.I heard a rumor that he puts KETCHUP on his Hot Dogs! Just wait until the GOP & MAGA get ahold of this. He'll be done for politically.
But what if he said Kleenex, and he actually uses paper towels? We can't have liars like this in the white house. If he'll lie about a Kleenex he'll lie about anything.
You think Trump has any actual convictions. It's either he sticks his finger in the air, or the last person that gave him the idea phrased him. Although at this point, the anti choice people are probably trying to tell him they won't show up if he doesn't vote for the FL measure.Trump says he opposes Florida amendment granting right to abortion

It was a very nice way to say why are you asking me this stupid fucking question.
She should shun any advances for interviews from persons who are going to be stupid or mining for gotchas. That attitude should serve Democrats well.It was a very nice way to say why are you asking me this stupid fucking question.

Didn't watch, which identity were they seeking - job title, pronouns, gender, race? What do any of those , other than the first, have to do with running the country?
Harris refused to bite on CNN interviewer trying to agitate a response by quoting an outrageous and insulting Trump lie about her race (that she recently "happened to turn black").Didn't watch, which identity were they seeking - job title, pronouns, gender, race? What do any of those , other than the first, have to do with running the country?
I think that is because there is no term for moderately rich, besides maybe "well off." But no survey includes that. Someone making 300k is much closer to middle class than the true rich.'I go to work, therefore I'm working class!'
It reminds me of how everyone wants to define themselves as middle class even if they're making like $300k a year.
