Obviously you haven’t been to the woke sex change centers known as public school.
Yeah, you accidently open the wrong door and whoopsie, 45 minutes later you're the other sex. Trumpster said so, it must be true.

I'm a little concerned about the debate. Walz is speaking pretty candidly but Harri seems to be holding back. I get it, don't be too negative, but this is not a normal election. I hope she is forceful enough at the debate to seriously call Trump out on some of his more outrageous lies.

I'm not saying he didn't claim Trump would win. I'm saying his claim was Trump winning the popular vote was wrong. It's a long article, but near the end has these points:
  1. His paper predicting each election between 2004 and 2012, which he publishes every four years in the journal Social Education. In 2012, for example, he wrote: “As a national system, the Keys predict the popular vote, not the state-by-state tally of Electoral College votes.”
  2. In Lichtman’s rebuttal to Nate Silver, published in 2011: “the keys are not designed to estimate percentages, but only popular vote winners and losers.”
  3. In the edition of his book released for the 2016 election, released in May 2016, where he writes: “they predict only the national popular vote and not the vote within individual states.”
  4. And, most clearly, in Lichtman’s published paper from October of 2016 predicting the outcome of the election, where he writes that “the Keys predict the popular vote, not the state-by-state tally of Electoral College votes.”
He said "a lot would have to go wrong" for Kamala to lose in November, his words. I think I posted it to this thread (a video) around 3 weeks ago.

Here's a paywall-penetrating link to current front page article at The New York Times. It will work for 14 days, i.e. until Sept. 21, 2024:

I've said many times the "debates" are a joke. I feel like--and if I'm wrong based on past ones, fine--that the only thing they can really do to help or hurt is if you are really, really awful at one of them. See: Biden.

Otherwise I doubt it moves the needle much if Harris doesn't fall apart, and I don't see that happening.

I read that Trump was planning on trying to loom over her or some bullshit (like his ancient fat ass is intimidating), so hopefully she is ready for that. I still remember Gore trying that on GWB, getting in his space with a loony grin on his face, and GWB handled it very well--and I REALLY wanted Gore to win, but he looked like an idiot doing that.

One can then point out "what about Trump, his meaningless lying meandering should hurt him right, that's being awful surely?" I got nothing. It would, if anyone else was doing it. If any other politician from any year had said that crap about electric boats and sharks (just to pick one of many such blatherings) they'd be done. Ask Howard Dean, one goofy yell was enough to hurt him severely.

Lincoln Project pundit riffs intensely about POTUS race. Says Trump's playing golf 5 days/week, can't fly into rural areas of swing states because he hasn't paid his debts. His super PAC funds pay his huge burgeoning legal feels, his campaign is a mafia squad. Trump does not expect to win, but is focusing on attempts to swap electors, challenge results in various ways, there will but a lot of violence, Trump's rattled about the debate but Kamala's not at all. Each side has ears in the other's campaign... and more!

I think I found out what he's talking about but it doesn't happen at school..

There shouldn't be any debate.. after jan 6. It's pretty much shooting yourself in the foot..

I'm not interested in watching it because even if Kamala shoots him with a shotgun.. right wing media will say he won and wiped the floor with her.

And there's this.. they're tying themselves into more knots than the Celtic Pagans.

Meh this is just Trump running from the left just like he did in 2016 when he pretended to be to the left of Hillary on healthcare and taxes and then did the exact opposite when he was in office.

I don't get it. He can't fly into rural airports because he defaulted on debt?

Landing slots require payments to the airport. They may have extended him some credit before but not again.

And it's super easy for an airport to deny landing.. just park a fire truck mid runway.

Is this your well founded speculation, or do you have any links?

Not about Trump specifically but since I live close to JFK and I travel a lot.

I often wondered why some of my usual airlines were not allowed to fly into JFK anymore.. so I investigated and it often had to do with them not making enough money to pay for their landing slots.. most of the airlines then shared a landing slot with another airline.. where they could come in for 1-2 days a week and pay for a partial slot with someone else paying for the whole slot and basically subletting..

So not speculation but reasonable deduction.

And besides every time you buy an airline ticket, what do you think those fees and airport taxes are for?? the airlines pass the costs onto you.

IIRC, Lichtman has predicted the last 9/10 elections correctly.
The one he missed was 2000. Bush vs Gore
And he had an _explanation_ for that anomaly, briefly, in the video I linked some weeks back here.

I have no idea what may or may not be going on with his ability to land at any given airport, but only very busy commercial airports charge landing fees. It's mostly to try to push general aviation to less busy airports.

Many rural airports can't handle 757s, though, which may be all there is to this.

The momentum in the Harris campaign has waned, and things have settled back into a virtual coin flip. So Tuesday's debate could be crucial for a couple weeks. Biden's good debate performance in 2020 made voters feel comfortable about electing a 78-year-old.

I think there's still some "irrational exuberance" going on with people underestimating Trump's chances. Nate Silver, who used to be good at this, has Trump as 60% to win. Even if Silver is a bit wrong, that suggests that Trump is at least a very live underdog.

Anyone confidently predicting an outcome is deluding themselves; just look at the battlegrounds:

Lest you think RCP is junk (editorially they are), 538 has nearly the same polling data but you have to select each state manually:

The bottom line is that these are the 7 states that matter, and they're all basically tied up (within MOE).

How is that relevant. The right wing press that so reports will affect whom it will affect. Her performance will affect whom it will effect. If she does not debate whatever effect not debating will have that effect and if she does debate then that will be the effect. How individuals are affected or not affected by things is anybody's guess. There should or shouldn't be a debate is a matter of opinion.

What a fucking dick and what a load of dicks if they believe him.

Your bottle of Jamesons and other spirits is gonna cost you more - simple as fuck!
In one way, it's nice to see Republicans so thoroughly reject supply side economics. Although it really shows what their issue has always been, oversimplified solutions to very complex problems.

They know their audience. No ivory tower condescending egghead explanations, just one-sentence solutions for everything is desirable. Good guys wear white hats, "Axis of Evil" etc. The few times I've watched any Fox talking head shows I'm struck by how slow and simple their dialog is--reminds me of a 2nd grade schoolteacher (without any actual facts to teach).

Q.E.D.

Does anyone really use Q.E.D. anymore?? I haven't seen it used once since I graduated university math classes.
