Couple of concerns:

These kinds of remotes combine the worst of both hard-button and touchscreen remotes: There is no tactile feedback of what button your finger is on (the kind of feedback you get with a hard-button remote) and you can't define buttons or rearrange button layout the way you can on a real touchscreen remote.

Also, if you are a major TiVO or other PVR user, you really want the transport controls (play/pause/stop/record/ff/rew/skip back/skip forward/DVR list) in a diamond layout in the middle of the remote, where your hand naturally rests. The reason for that is that they are your most commonly used buttons, and should be the easiest to access.

Not a threadcrap, it's certainly a neat piece of gadgetry, but two points to consider before you spend the money.

Thanks, I was going to bite but after that I thought better of it. The price is right but if I'm going to get a new remote I want rearrangeable buttons. It does look cool though....

If you want rearrangeable buttons, you have to spring for a full touchscreen remote.

Personally, I'm still waiting for a universal/programmable unit where the DVR controls are as nicely arranged as my ViP622's native remote. Tivo gets it right, DirectTV gets it right, but no remote that doesn't come in the same box as a DVR is as DVR-friendly.
