Kanye is nothing more than a mediocre lyricist, and never will be. His flows suck, he mumbles too much, his voice sucks, and he thinks he's clever and sarcastic when he's just plain corny. "Through the Wire" had a sick beat, but Kanye's lyrics sucked it up... cmon, this guy is TALKING for half the g.dam song, and there's no hook except a sped up Chaka looped. Anyone can talk on a song (like we should feel sorry for him b/c he fell asleep behind the wheel), and anyone can loop an 80's song, speed it up, and use it as the hook...

On the other hand, Kanye as a producer is incredible... Out of all of his beats, I maybe don't like two (out of around 35 songs)... He is sort of like Diddy, exceptional sampling and beats, but should have NEVER picked up the mike... Everyone wants to be like Dr.Dre, yet nobody can touch the Bo Jackson of hip hop (rapping and sick producing). But it was a nice try Kanye. lol

You are aware that Dr. Dre never wrote ANY of his lyrics, right?

he NEVER wrote any of his LYRICS?

I think he's always had ghostwriters. I'm pretty sure Ice Cube used to write his lyrics when they were with NWA. Later Snoop penned some of his songs. Its obvious Eminem used to write some of his verses. I'm also fairly certain Jay Z wrote some songs for him as well. There are probably others but thats all I can think of right now.

I heard good things about him and I see this, fvck em. I don't have much respect for some big ego fool who thinks he's the savior of hip-hop, or any genre.

He sucked ass..

He did a bunch of remix/covers or random songs (that aren't even hip hop)..

then before he ended...he started telling his life story with music playing in the background.

A LOT of people were leaving halfway through...and most of them were black too.

It was sucky.

SR71 and Sugar Ray did a MUCH better job of keeping the audience entertained.

I've got pics...will post in new thread maybe...

He should apologize but you should not say you would never buy his album again because you would be missing out on some very good beats and lyrics.

I agree. Several of his produced tracks for Jay-Z, Twista, and others are HOT!!!!! I say give him some time to adjust to the fame and he will be okay. Remember Jay-Z was a lil cocky when he first came out. Look at the love that he gets now.

what are you talking about? toss it up was by makaveli and had nothing to do with pac getting killed or changing his name

yep, double-checked, your right, my bad. good job. but the whole angle i was going with was pac was talking about death before-hand, and then it happened. same for b.i.g. im just making the point that when talking and dealing with death, especially truly focusing on it, history has shown 2 rappers suffer that fate after mentioning it.

no one said it better.
AT THE VERY LEAST he doesn't rap about Escalades and 2 foot rims.

on the other hand, as much as I hate to admit it, but I really don't think Dre is a good rapper. His lyrics after the Chronic are quite dull.

"Kayne West did a show in Denver Monday night. Well apparently he forgot he was in Denver. As Kanye thanked "SEATTLE", the crowd responded with boo's from every direction. Instead of giving an apology to the crowd, he said, "Ya'll booing me?! I know ya'll know who I am. I saved hip hop, I'm on the radio, ya'll should be thanking me! I'm the first one to use soul samples in records, ya'll don't know that?" The boos didnt stop until he got off stage.

Sounds like there was a Kayne mutiny!

since this thread got re-bumped, i wanted to mention that was a good post, pretty accurate, at least to my ears.

but i will give him credit that he's a good producer. of course, there's people who critiqued puffy because he sampled a few songs, but then every single kanye song is laced with a sample, and then all of a sudden people love it. im not defending puffy, its just funny kanye's being held to different standards.
