In all fairness. Steam itself is not DRM, it is just a digital store. The Steam DRM is optional for devs/pubs to use. There are a lot of games on Steam that once you download the game you can run it without Steam running at all.

I actually did not know that.
Can you give an example game?

Yup, an example I can think of immediately off the top of my head is Crusader Kings II. I was able to just copy the game folder over to my friend's computers so we could play multiplayer. You can run the .exe file directly without Steam running whatsoever.

There are quite a few DRM-free games on Steam.

I've tried running several and it never worked. Maybe I'll go thru and see again.

That's why it's called DRM.
Sucks that you got burned, but hopefully people will be encouraged, where available, to get DRM free copies of games instead of buying DRM encumbered games.

There are some people on this forum who would rather buy a Steam version of a game than a GoG.com version, even when the price is the same. When DRM burns you, there isn't necessarily much you can do.

(Although I think the real mistake was buying any copies of Thief, especially when the price has been slashed such a short time after release).

You guys are exactly right. Steam is a digital store, and it is their job to ensure that you get what you paid for.

If you paid for a REGION FREE COPY of a game, you should own a REGION FREE COPY of a game.

I still see this as Steam's fault. If the developer wants to switch it around, they have every right, but its Valve's job to say "You can stop selling REGION FREE, but you can't get rid of ALREADY SOLD COPIES"

Hey guys, sorry for the disappearing act.
I wasn't sure if I was still going to do the threads or not. Steam burned me on something and it pissed me off a lot and I wasn't sure if I would bother with the threads anymore or not at all.

Anyways, I'll start doing them at the start of the new week since a lot of people did find it useful and no use screwing them for my own issues with Steam atm.

Thank you for the concern though, I do appreciate it and was surprised to see this thread.

Was there any vacation debauchery?

Was there any vacation debauchery?

Sadly no
The vacation was meh due to have a migraine for the majority of it. I have and get chronic migraines. Sometimes I can go awhile without one and most the time they just last a day and that is that, sometimes they last for a few days and I was ever so lucky to get one of those on the vacation so I spent most the time in bed with all light closed out and headphones over my ears to block on the noise.

It wasn't all bad though, I had 1 good day/night at least
