Kaspersky 2010 IS = POS?

I have used KIS since 07 and for some reason or another the 09 version was more bloated than 08 and now 2010 is just insane. It slows IE8's tab opening tremendously. I mean we're talking 5-10 seconds just for a tab to load, no I'm not joking, that long. It's very annoying. I had to uninstall it and don't plan to go back to 09 either.

Has anyone else experienced this? What type of problems are you encountering?

I had the same issues with KIS 2010. It slowed everything down - especially internet browsing. I tried several other products, and I ended up really liked Symantec NIS 2010.....however it crashed several times and I had to reinstall it. After the fourth time it crashed I decided to try G-Data since it rated tops on detection and its 3-user license was only $39.95.

So far I really like it, but it does have some issues:

1. It takes much longer for full scans compared to other products.
2. If you install the trial version and decide to purchase it you have to uninstall it and reinstall it as it will not recognize your password/key (very stupid if you ask me).
3. Since it a dual engine scanner it takes more resources - I only use engine A (Avast's engine) on my laptop. I use both engines on my desktop without any slowdowns.
4. They are based in Germany, so there is no U.S. based support. However they answered my email within a few hours.


UPDATE

I now have both engines enabled on the laptop with no issues. For some reason the HP Windows 7 driver for my web-cam that loaded on start-up was constantly eating 40 - 50% of my CPU cycles. I disabled it and there is no noticeable slowdown on the laptop with G Data running full-force.

I personally don't have it installed but I was helping a person on another tech site with contant BSODs. He couldn't figure it out and after I read his minidumps everything pointed to KIS 2010. At first he had a hard time believing this because he had the 2009 version without problem.

But once he decided to take my advice to completely uninstall the 2010 to see if it brought stability everything has been fine since. He has installed a totally different antivirus and has had no issues.

I recently built my Windows 7 rig and basically took the chance and installed KIS2010 last night. It works like a champ. I haven't had any problems, the slow downs are not there. Someone on the Kas forum said it takes a few days before the slow downs start to occur so I guess I have to wait a week until I'm in the clear but from what I could see it was working fine. I'm thinking about taking the plunge and installing it again on my XP Box.

I use Kaspersky IS 2010 and I have no issues with it. I do however recommend disabling the addons it installs in the browsers. I had problems with those addons in Firefox, disabling it works well and everything is normal afterwards.

I don't notice any terrible slowdowns with KIS. I'm sure it's a little slower than if I had no protection at all but at least it's secure. I recommend it.

Likewise. Got it as a freebie (3 license version) at the Windows 7 rollout event and its been troublefree on both my Vista and XP box. It replaced Avira Antivir which was flagging every trainer that I use with certain games such as Comp. of Heroes:OF

I removed it. It's a POS. Until they can fix the extreme slow down, I'm sticking with Microsoft's Security Essentials.

They released a patch two days ago and Kaspersky users at the forum have reported that the patch fixed alot of these issues.

I completely abandoned KIS 2010 because I went to Win7 64bit and it completely hosed my computer. I went with MSE instead as it integrates well with Win7.

OK, FWIW, just installed KIS 2010 and so far no problems whatsoever. During the install I chose to let KIS make decisions as opposed to me making a decision on each issue that will come up. I also updated the software during installation as well. Running on Windows Vista (but I want Win 7).

You probally have the update to fix the reported issues.
