Kaspersky and the FBI ???

Does anyone know the 'backstory' about this? Is the FBI concern to ditch Kaspersky with merit?

I'm dubious because the company offered their source code as proof but I'm not knowledgeable enough to know if this is a witchhunt or done out of spite (think election - but do not drag this tread into anything conspiracy related please).

Kaspersky has stopped a virus that NOD32 allowed long ago so I'm hesitant to change.

Nothing really new that hasn't been discussed since they first began. Some people have always stated they would never trust a Russian company with access to their PC. The same people also are not a fan of electronics coming from China for the same reasons.

I used Kaspersky a few years in the past, but I don't use them anymore.......not because I fear the new KGB hacking my PC, I just didn't like their product. That being said, countries like Russia can nationalize any company within their borders for practically any reason like Venezuela did. So I could see the possible security risks.
