AOL's Active Virus Shield uses Kaspersky's scanning engine and is freely available. Highly recommended.
I thought you have to sign up or be an AOL member? No way AOL offers anything beyond aim for 'free'.
No, you do not have to be an AOL member, and it is 100% free.

Look who is #1 & #2 with an identical score. AOL/Kaspersky recently updated the build to 6.0.0.308 and it fixed some minor bugs. It's very low on resource usage, doesn't lag your pc when real-time protection is enabled, has the best detection and removal rates in the industry, full SMTP, IMAP4 & POP3 email support, Outlook & Outlook Express plug-ins, works on x64, hourly updates, and much more. The key is good for one year, and you can use the same key on several installs before having to request another one. 6 months from now you can request a new key and update your subscription under the service menu and click in the License Info box to change it.
FWIW AOL also offers
free BYOA access now as well.
AOL is really trying hard to improve their image and give back to the community. I applaud their efforts.
