I've been using it since version 5 (now they're on 6)

Love it.
One of the best for protection out there.

No issues with pop ups or notifications here.

You have access to most of that and how you would like to control it anyways.

AOL's Active Virus Shield uses Kaspersky's scanning engine and is freely available. Highly recommended.

I thought you have to sign up or be an AOL member? No way AOL offers anything beyond aim for 'free'.

It's great! Awesome protection and it's not too bad on system resources like some others. Well worth the money, IMO.

Ditto on everything said. Great program! Also, it's Number 1 on detection capabilities - can't ignore that.

No, you do not have to be an AOL member, and it is 100% free. http://www.activevirusshield.com/antivirus/freeav/index.adp

Don't install the security toolbar. You can read other peoples comments here.

Current antivirus roundup: http://www.virus.gr/english/fullxml/default.asp?id=82&mnu=82

Look who is #1 & #2 with an identical score. AOL/Kaspersky recently updated the build to 6.0.0.308 and it fixed some minor bugs. It's very low on resource usage, doesn't lag your pc when real-time protection is enabled, has the best detection and removal rates in the industry, full SMTP, IMAP4 & POP3 email support, Outlook & Outlook Express plug-ins, works on x64, hourly updates, and much more. The key is good for one year, and you can use the same key on several installs before having to request another one. 6 months from now you can request a new key and update your subscription under the service menu and click in the License Info box to change it.

FWIW AOL also offers free BYOA access now as well.

AOL is really trying hard to improve their image and give back to the community. I applaud their efforts.

Since the ZASuite includes an antivirus AOL Kaspersky will try to uninstall it. You should not have more than one AV on your computer.

http://www.activevirusshield.info/

You could always uninstall the ZASuite and install the firewall only if you insist on using their product. ZASuite's antivirus engine is licensed from Computer Associates which is the same engine that E-Trust uses. Even though it may be VB100% rated other independent reviews seem to give it dismal ratings. The funny thing is that E-Trust EZ AV is free and Zone Labs charges you $20 for it.

kaspersky is good. i use ZA since it's easier to have the suite work together. plus CA anti-virus isn't that bad. haven't gotten one in over a year. Kaspersky kep on scanning my system every time i activated it. used up too much resources. that was v5. haven't tried v6.

Kaspersky is superior to anything out there IMHO and I would never consider something like "cough" Norton lol. The protection is unparalleled.

Why should it be weird that "all the 'member' comments saying basically the same thing?" If anything, it should tell you that Kaspersky must be a pretty good AV.

Like John said, who knows what he's talking about when it comes to spyware/malware, etc., look it up. You'll see that Kaspersky's got the best detection rate.

The question is why do you want multiple antivirus applications on your pc in the first place? If you don't care for the ZA E-Z antivirus you should stick with the software firewall only. I'd rather have a quality AV notify me and refuse to install if there is already an AV on the system instead of having multiple inferior and bloated scanners.

I understood what you said the first time around, but I still fail to grasp why you would disable one and install a second AV that is even more bloated w/ a mediocre detection rate.

I know for a fact that NAV06 adds between 8-10 processes. Out of curiosity how many total processes do you have running (check the task manager) on your pc? With only 1GB of memory you may be hitting the pagefile often. :Q

FWIW there are other AV's that will not install if you have another AV already on your pc.

2 months ago my friend messed up my pc I had to reformat and re-install windows xp so I decided not to install Norton AV 2006. I now use ZA Secuirty Suite with anti-virus.
