Here’s my honest take on the accusations against Kavanaugh thus far:
Ford: I’m undecided on the veracity of her claim. She seems credible enough and has nothing to gain by making a false claim, but it’s troubling that no one who was “there” can verify any incident occurred...or even whether there was any “party” with the folks named thus far. I’ve heard prep schools are pretty tight-knit, “what happens at G Prep stays at G Prep” etc., but if anyone else knew about the incident contemporaneously, they’d have come forward. If Ford really told no one, it’ll be hard to verify her claims, and I don’t think she can derail confirmation on her own.
Ramirez: I think she’s legit, and there seems to be corroborating witnesses, but I’d be hard pressed to call this “sexual assault” vs. a prank. If Kavanaugh had come clean and called it a stupid prank and apologized, I think he’d get through this. But if it’s true, and he lied, he doesn’t deserve to be on SCOTUS.
Avenatti’s client: I’m not buying it. Still need to learn who this is, but Avenatti does seem to be turning this into a sideshow smear campaign. What’s the hold up on coming forward? He just made an ass of himself on Maddow...all hype and no substance.
