Avenatti’s client: I’m not buying it. Still need to learn who this is, but Avenatti does seem to be turning this into a sideshow smear campaign. What’s the hold up on coming forward? He just made an ass of himself on Maddow...all hype and no substance.

Didn't watch, but he's playing with nuclear fire here.
He better not be pulling some Saul Goodman bullshit or he'll get burned to the ground.

He ran circles around Trump and Cohen, but is he that good or just lucky? Those two are halfwits, but this is quite a bit more serious.

This is going to be brutal if it comes to it... he was about to cry when the claim was read to him. Avenatti hasn't even started....

Mmmm I love those sweet sweet liberal tear drops as you act on emotions and empathy rather than logic and reason. I'm telling you how to treat your voters with even an ounce of self-respect and dignity and you just might learn how to win elections. But keep on losing elections and proclaiming "Dur hur it's becuz dey r all dumb!" In the end you're just fucking yourself.
I don't want to win any elections. I want you to choke on Republican cock. You'll be happier that way. You'll never have to worry about how the liberals use the government to benefit you.

Yeah, nice job being a fucking rube by signing an absolutely absurd statement vouching for how Rapey McRapeface behaved around all women, not just you. Now you find out that he played you so he could get on the supreme court and take away your daughters' reproductive rights.

Great, GREAT job.

Honestly it kind of was. It’s way more of a story that she found out about his rapey yearbook after signing a letter in support of him than it would be if she had never signed at all.

It just goes to show how people like Kavanaugh can put on a good act to conceal their real intentions. It sounds like her interactions with him were just fine face to face while he was bragging behind her back about being in some fraternity of people who banged her or whatever.

Avenatti is doing more harm than good. He shouldn't be putting anything out without a name behind it. This is just pure publicity seeking on his part.

Remember the picture of the CD-ROM in the safe? Yeah...

Meh. Depends on if he can deliver the goods or not. If he can, this is a great job. If he can’t, it’s bad.

I mean it’s hard to argue with his results so far - he took Trump and Cohen to the cleaners. (in a political sense and potentially a criminal one)

Boy, that hearing could be explosive. Kavanaugh should probably step down at this point. Honestly, what type of person puts something like that on his/her yearbook photo?

I just read some more of the article and...

Sean Hagan, who was a Georgetown Prep student at the time, told the Times that Kavanaugh and his teammates "were very disrespectful, at least verbally, with Renate," and said, "I can't express how disgusted I am with them, then and now."
Hagan and another classmate, who requested anonymity, told the Times that Dolphin was a subject of their boasting. They said Kavanaugh and his friends wanted to memorialize their supposed conquests with the yearbook references.
Hagan said Dolphin "should be offended," and told the Times he was "completely astounded" when he saw she had signed the letter in support of Kavanaugh.

You know, I don't even know what to make of this any more. Looks like he abused the crap out of her in high school, and I sure as hell remember the kids that tormented me. So I don't know what kind of Stockholm type calculation went into her signing that letter, but I feel bad about my first post.

This nominee is just... holy shit.

Here in America everyone gets the opportunity to be a supreme court Justice or President, including rapists. That's what makes America great!

Right?

Oh holy shit.

Michael Walsh, another student at Georgetown Prep, also wrote "Renate Alumnus" on his yearbook page, the Times reports. He also included a short poem, "You need a date / and it's getting late / so don't hesitate / to call Renate."

These guys were absolute fucking heels. This is like parody level stuff.

I hope she sues the shit out of the school for publishing that yearbook. That's fucking insane.

I just learned something interesting, Avenatti literally has an award named after him at GWU law school for pre-trial advocacy like this.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Avenatti

In 2003, George Washington University Law School established the Michael J. Avenatti Award for Excellence in Pre-Trial and Trial Advocacy, an annual award given to the member of the graduating Juris Doctor class who demonstrates excellence in pre-trial and trial advocacy.

We won't know until it all shakes out, but it's safe to say he's good at this and he knows what he's doing. This award was followed by a donation by him so it's not like it was totally spontaneous but you still choose the topic of such awards for a reason.

Now think of a Senator asking Kavanaugh what "Renate Alumnus" means... and or reading that poem.

She won't. More likely she writes another letter vouching or Kavanaugh's "amazing judicial credentials" and his "support for women in the judiciary".

She already signed that ridiculous letter on his behalf.

The prevailing theory seems to be that McConnell doesn't have the votes and likely won't unless Ford totally implodes at the hearing. The nomination will probably be passed out of committee on party line vote but the floor vote stands a significant probability of failing. The fall back idea is that the Republicans will try to use the failure to punish red state Dems in the midterms.

That's a win-win for democrats if I ever heard one. Red state democrats like Manchin are a fvcking cancer on the solidarity of the party. They deserve to be punished for their traitorous attitude when they can't give Schumer their votes but blue state republicans can and do give McConnel theirs every single time.

This seems to be the strategy. Lose Kavanaugh, save the Senate majority, pull the next candidate from the roster.

Unless Avenatti fails to deliver or muddles things for his own political ambitions to the extent that it provides overhead cover to dismiss all of the allegations.

Yeah, not sure if that'll work or be in their best interest. It's probably better for them if Kavanaugh simply withdraws. Hopefully whatever the turtle does blows up in his face.

If Ford doesn't implode and McConnell has a floor vote and can't get the votes that most likely means Murkowski and Collins didn't vote to confirm. That also means the other senators are on record voting for a man whom many believe might have attempted to rape a women among other things. In the age of the the Trump/Roy Moore/Me Too, I'm not sure that is a winning strategy for the GOP.

I feel like his interview last night was a very bad idea, at least how he did it. He seemed to go way too far towards the claims that he was focused on getting good grades, playing sports, and being a fine upstanding citizen with little interest in partying beyond that of a normal kid. Regardless of whether or not you think he committed these various assaults I think few people believe he wasn't very interested in partying. When you lie about the small stuff it makes people wonder if you're lying about the big stuff.

Susan Collins says she thinks the committee investigators should question Ramirez under oath about her allegations.

I wouldn't bet on her voting against Kavanaugh no matter what. She talks a big game but always votes whatever way the Trumpublicans need her to.

Did you notice the obvious repeating of certain phrases ala Fox news/republican type talking points? The hours of practice at the WH was showing, though I'm sure most people didn't notice.

As of Friday she was 95% sure of her voting decision, granted that was before the new allegations, but I'm sure she will vote to confirm unless Avenatti's client comes across as credible.
