The trouble with the whole mistaken identity theory is that Ford didn't just identify Kavanaugh. She also identified Kavanaugh's admitted good friend Mark Judge as being in the room. Judge has publicly said that he can't recall any such party or occurrence. So if she's mistaking Kavanaugh's identity, then presumably she is also mistaking someone else for Mark Judge, and it just so happens by coincidence that Judge was Kavanaugh's friend.
That's the reason I tend to believe her allegations. Not because of her credible demeanor. Both her and Kavanaugh seem credible in their accusations and denials, and either could just be putting on a good acting job. But we know this happened to her because she said it to two therapists in 2012. And, as I said, the theory of mistaken identity makes no sense here.
So...
1: The claim existed prior.
2: She named 3 people in the same social circle.
Both deliver on various aspects of credibility.
