I'd be happy to hear your story. And it has no relevance to my post whatsoever. I am only asking that you accept reality. Reality is that her hesitance to come forward is not at all an indicator of untruthfulness. I'm not saying it is an indicator of truthfulness either. But there is a problem if you can only identity with Kavanaugh because you have been in an analogous position. Well, it's not a problem exactly unless you are a US Senator. But it doesn't add credibility to your opinions on whether or not she is being truthful. On the other hand, sharing your story may help those who are unable to identify with Kavanaugh's position. McConnell knew this shit was going to happen cause Kavanaughs shady past was already known and he advised AGAINST nominating him cause he knew this was gonna happen ... Trump nominated him anyway... for personal reasons of getting away with crimes he thinks Kavanaugh will protect him from.
Kavanaugh is dirty .. its not a leftish conjob in action .. Kavanaugh is shady, simple as that... Just ask Mitch.

If this last minute lynching of this person is successful , where does it lead?
Wanna run for mayor? judge, president, senate, congress, get a job anywhere?
it will only take one person to accuse you publicly of something you might have or might not have done to ruin you. 2 years or 40 years ago, don't matter, your done, innocent ,? don't matter you are done.
There are far too many cases of false accusations that ruin people and NOTHING is done about it.
And far to many crimes that are not reported ,BUT that does not mean you should be able to roast someones good name, there are many innocent people that are also accused, lets not forget about them also/

I imagine what you are feeling toward Democrats right now is quite similar to what women who are victims of sexual assault are feeling toward Republicans right now.

Honestly, this is an awful mess. If Ford and others are lying for political purpose, it is horrifying as you describe. And if they are truthful and denied the opportunity to be appropriately heard and disbelieved without weighing the evidence, then we reaffirm the horrible reality of sexual abuse victims.

So we can respect both possibilities and have an even-handed view of the evidence. From that perspective, I find it quite damning for Kavanaugh.

It was pretty obvious last week that in asking for this the GOP was looking a fig leaf to hide behind and not the truth.

This will keep the talking point alive that there was an FBI "investigation" while giving them enough cover to confirm Kavanaugh. I'm afraid the Turtle won this round.

This is a horrible administration and congress that will have long lasting negative impacts on our country. Trump won't be a good president but he will be remembered as a very consequential one.

Nah. The outcome may be more like a pyrrhic victory. Nate Silver and others say confirming him may hurt chances of them keeping Congress. It'll also provide more ammo for Democrats to simply add to the court if they win in 2020.

Republicans have handily won this exchange unless someone like Flake can get enough Republicans together to vote against him. I doubt it, and even that idea requires that Flake vote against him which seems unlikely.

But the biggest win is in galvanizing their voter base. The Kavanaugh hearings are not seen as having much to do with Trump, and many more Republicans are of similar mind about it and feel threatened and wronged as a party right now regardless of affinity for Trump. If this energy is sustained, it will certainly affect midterm results. Democrats may be better off with a quickie confirmation and for the thing to die with this news cycle ahead of the election. I don't think they'd accept that, though. And while blocking Kavanaugh is also galvanizing and energizing for them, they weren't the party needing unity and energy heading to the polls.

Unfortunately, it's America that's the real loser here

Manchin's race is more interesting... he's currently polling solidly ahead (as of last week) but not sure whether that's because West Virginians already expect him to confirm. He seems to be the type who'll do whatever he needs to win his race.

Agree Heitkamp has almost a zero chance at this point, she should just vote no, cause a yes vote isn't going to help her.

Looks that way. And that makes the pathway to taking the senate very difficult if not impossible. I will say I think the Dems may end up with 220ish seats in the house when all is said and done.
