The fact of the matter is the FBI indisputably did not pursue all the obvious options for obtaining such evidence during this clearly extremely limited investigation. The FBI interviewing Ford to see if she could name any other additional witnesses which the FBI might interview would be an obvious (early) step for example. It also appears clear the FBI did not ask any questions about Kavanaugh's drinking habits in the past which actually would be fairly standard question to ask during even a normal background check, and fits with an investigation designed to specifically avoid find anything incriminating. Strong enough evidence Kavanaugh really blatantly lied about his drinking habits under oath should be enough to justify voting against confirmation by itself. (It also would clearly be relevant to the credibility of the rest of the his testimony.) The FBI also did not bother to interview other witnesses who volunteered to speak with the FBI in the last few days in support of Ford's claims, which would be an obvious step in a true effort to be somewhat comprehensive.There is your problem. No evidence toward Kav was found.
