McConnell extended the simple majority vote rule to the SCOTUS, not Reid. That was a major escalation, not tit for tat. Right after he stuffed Garland's nomination. Right after 8 years of outright obstructionism. McConnell also took full advantage of the rule change wrt lower court nominees, as was his due. That was what the GOP wanted as far back as 2005.

The way I see it, Dems will necessarily be forced to escalate beyond that when we get power if we're to preserve middle class prosperity, egalitarian democracy & common decency in the way we deal with each other. FYGM is no way to run a first world country yet remains the GOP ideal. What they crave is a distribution of income, wealth & power like we had 120 years ago.

Reset the country, judiciary before it was crippled thanks to Russian interference.. then make it so that 2/3rd majority is required for lifetime positions.

Seems a perfectly reasonable and fair to everyone except ofcourse those who wanna destroy the country and get off on other people being miserable like Trumpie and his followers.

The AG for the Southern District of New York investigated Manny Miranda and cleared him. What are we accusing Justice Kavanaugh of doing? Taking advantage of Democrats stupidity? Shit, a lot of us are guilty of that.

Good job!

We are accusing him of lying to congress where he said he was unaware that documents with 'highly confidential' stamped on them that intimately detailed the opposition party's strategy were stolen.

This argument rests on the idea that Kavanaugh is really, really fucking stupid or totally incompetent.

Good job!

This seems to be the go to excuse for politicians who are long tenured part of the Washington establishment and should know better.

He was a political operative for years who repeatedly worked on similar things. There is no plausible case where he would not have known there was something fishy about those documents.

We all know what happened, he knew they were confidential and he didn’t care because it gave them an advantage. He couldn’t admit that at his confirmation for obvious reasons so instead he lied. This isn’t brain surgery.

Pretty tough to claim 8 years of obstructionism when the Democrats had the House and the Senate for 2 of those years. \

But hey, why stop lying now when you're on a roll , Right Jhhnn?

That falsehood has been debunked repeatedly for years & yet you persist in promulgating it.

Prior to Ted Kennedy's death, Dems held a filibuster proof majority in the Senate only briefly in 2009. When he died in august of that year they never again had the 60 votes necessary to overcome the GOP's intense & unprecedented campaign of obstruction. That's just reality.

Evidently there was too many words in my first post for you fucktards to follow. I'll try to establish the facts one at a time and maybe you can keep up.

Offer one up that matters. Manny Miranda improperly obtained the records of Dem Senators & the Bushistas used them, applied a nice coat of whitewash over it all. Following along so far?

So if Kavanaugh was too dumb to understand the nature of the information he received then he's obviously too dumb to be on the Supreme Court. Which isn't true at all, but he claims that it is.

Not that you actually care about any of it, anyway. Everybody knows he's lying, particularly his supporters. He's the kind of liar they want, and now they have him.

You should do that. You’ve made a bunch of dumb arguments you can’t defend.

Good job!

I think McConnell has badly misjudged that. What he's done is use power to implement a highly partisan & unpopular agenda. Democrats can now expand upon that to implement popular & effective policy w/o regard to the niceties he set aside. We just need to win it all to do it, starting this election & on in to 2020.

The turtle isn't dumb, so I worry what it means. While I don't expect Democrats to even hint at it, I've seen Democrats like Feinstein and Lieu make unnecessary statements that suggests they won't do anything about it (e.g. Feinstein repeating the media talking point that Kavanaugh being seated will last for a generation).

I also believe Republicans will try to blunt any bold attempts by the Democrats by trying to make nice. Grassley, for example, is saying he isn't with the turtle on trying to get another justice in around 2020. The conservative SC justices also could blunt this over something small. Look at Roberts. He has hardly ever gone with the Democrats on a close decision, yet the media narrative is that he wants the court to appear "non-partisan" (Ha!). A similar phony public image that has gone on with the "moderate" Kennedy.

Says he is going to spell out the ''facts' one by one about documents. Proceeds to provide no facts on said subject. Changes subject and accuses others of moving the goal posts.

Lol

The entire piece is filled with facts. Do you know what facts are???

Thank you for bolding the part where a suspect doesn’t come right out and confess to a crime. This is like bolding where a bank robbery suspect says he didn’t do it. The facts listed in the article make his denial and Kavanaugh’s denials preposterous and any objective person knows it.

What he said in plain English is that Kavanaugh was not told the source of the information. If he was not told how would he know?
