Are you now claiming there's such a thing as centrist conservatives?

As long as they support abortion, ban guns, limit conservative free speech, support legalizing illegal aliens and oppose President Trump on all policies I guess you'd call them centrist conservatives. I'll continue to call them Democrats though and why would a Republican nominate one?

Why would the GOP nominate such a candidate? To get over the traditional 60 vote hurdle & have a mainstream built by consensus SCOTUS.

I thought Conservatives held our democratic traditions in high esteem. I suspect real Conservatives do but the current state of the GOP isn't conservative but rather reactionary right...

You'd be wrong.

They pretty much died off after the Great Intellectual Purges in favor of litmus tests.

Cue a political cartoon of Federalist Society and Kochs/Big Money Donors sticking a piece of litmus paper into a disgusting swamp, and approving of the result.

All the little shit critters come poking out from their bottom-dwelling hideouts now... Is this my time to shine? Is this the year of the Cockroach? ... Shine motherfucker, shine, so I can see you.

Hmmmm

Feinstein statement: "I have received information from an individual concerning the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh... The individual strongly requested confidentiality... and I honored that decision. I have, however, referred the matter to federal investigative authorities."

News articles are popping up now about Feinstein forwarding the letter she received.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/poli...ederal-authorities/ar-BBNil7g?ocid=spartanntp
This will put certain board members in a pickle. I mean they hate Kavanaugh and Trump, but they also hate women taking down men (implied by the representation of the letter-writer). What to do...

Though, of course, for most those two issues don't conflict for both good and fucking awful.

Apparently this has something to do with someone from high school for him. What's weird about that is that any crime he committed in high school would be long past the statute of limitations (and not really the FBI's business anyway). Someone on Reddit had a plausible theory, which was that this person was blackmailing Kavanaugh for something he had done back then and he had been paying her (or someone else) off for years to not go public. That would go a long way in explaining the mysterious debts and weird purchases Kavanaugh seems to have.

It's total speculation but it's the most plausible theory I've heard so far.

Maybe that's close...

Two officials familiar with the matter say the incident involved possible sexual misconduct between Judge Kavanaugh and a woman when they were both in high school. They spoke anonymously because they were not authorized to discuss the matter.

Except they weren't a problem. They were participating and were allowed to do so under the 1A AND the chair of the committee acknowledged it.

Don't divert with the OK-bullshit. You made this about the protestors and just because you don't like 'em doesn't make what they are doing wrong or not part of the process. Grow up, buttercup.

If it were their right to do so and they were allowed then why were they hustled out of the proceeding and arrested?
I read 70 on day 1 and 73 on day 2... So, no they were breaking the law and were not allowed to do so.

I'm not diverting at all. I was only responding to your post about the girl making an OK sign that you claim is trolling.

jackstar7 said:
"It's fucked up that you support trolling in our national political processes."

I responded:
"And almost as fucked up as those supporting the protesters screaming in the balcony and interfering in our national political processes"

Still making it about the protesters rather than what they were protesting, huh? Why is that?

I was commenting on someone making it about the "trolling" with the OK Sign... Keep up.

Judge Kavanaugh is in and you may as well learn to accept it.

To quote a famous President:

" Elections have consequences."

Why would people do that? He’s super unpopular and this is just further dragging down republicans for the midterms. He seems to be a pretty awful choice, picked primarily because Trump thinks he will enable his corruption. Smart to keep fighting that.

After all elections have consequences and I think we all want the Democrats to knock this next one out of the park for the sake of the country.

That's the other diversion in this thread, isn't it? You like that one, too.

What's unfolding here is an unprecedented partisan power play by right wing extremists. There's no other way to put it. This isn't the way we do things in America, not when it comes to lifetime appointments to the Supreme Court. It's morally wrong. Anybody who would accept the post under these circumstances is unfit to serve.

This whole thing just smells bad. Woman from high school. Anonymous letter from someone who won’t be identified and doesn’t want to pursue the matter.

The right wing noise machine will tear this to shreds and not without merit.

Yea, lets wait and see what happens.

There’s other crap going down which I started a thread for here since it also involves campaign finance laws.

Collins is being pressured to vote no:

CrowdPac Raises $1M+ for Collins Competitor IF She Votes to Confirm Kavanaugh

What I think is hilarious is that she is calling it bribery. If telling a politician you will fund a challenge to replace them in office if they vote in ways you don’t like is bribery I would love to know what she considers $10k a plate fundraising dinners with a bunch of rich people.
