Feinstein fucked up pretty bad here. She had no right to unilaterally withhold this information from the committee.

Edit: and the Rs seem to have done her one better now releasing a letter from 65 women who attended his HS who claim he "behaved honorably and treated women with respect". This signals they knew about the allegations.

That really doesn't mean much. "He rarely tries to rape" is as about as comforting as a letter from Roy Moore's friends saying "well he never tried to bang my 14yo, so IDK what the fuss is about."

As far her tactics... Yeah, IDK either. Clearly there were fellow Ds that were not happy with her approach on the nomination, but she was the lead.

Clearly just asking to delay the vote, followed by bickering over process was unlikely to change the course. Why keep it hidden until now? Did she think it would stay hidden, and that was the proper thing to do?

Otoh, maybe this person really didn't want to become the next Anita Hill, and Fienstein was trying to avoid that if possible. How did she consider the optics when this became public so late in the process? This doesn't actually serve the woman's interest introduced like this.

Lordy.

It’s kind of grey because cost of living means a lot but my thought would be about the 30th percentile to the 80th or so. So basically around $35k a year to $150k. So, the middle 50 percent.

I really think many people on this board do not appreciate how little the median person in the US makes. I live in Brooklyn and the median household income is $50k. It’s why I see houses near me where eight people live in a one bedroom.

I know people think ‘I still worry about money so I must be middle class.’ No, you aren’t. Also, this is a good thing, you should be happy about your success!

Part of it too is expectations of what middle class life should be.

Let's say the idea is Red's family from That 70s Show. Dad works, mom at home, kids, car, house.

Not rich or fancy, some worries, but mostly comfortable.

Reality is more you need that 90th percentile income to not feel shit ass broke and likely to end up working until you die.

My family has prospered, prob in top 5% now, but it's taken a long time of hard work, saving and frugality to get to the point where your finances are indicating you can send kids to college without a mountain of debt and retire as planned.
Basically live like Red, except mom works.

That's only if you don't get fkd by a medical situation.

I know others who also make buck twenty plus, but an injury and poor insurance coverage has them teetering on bankruptcy. They weren't fancy before that, but medical expenses bleed you dry very quickly.

what, you can't drum up a letter signed by 65 people you haven't seen in 35 years in 1 day?

Who among us doesn't keep a letter specifically endorsing their lack of rapey character during a narrow window of life in their back pocket?

Back pocket? I put it at the top of my job applications.

"65 of 66 of women say I treat them with respect and generally do not try to drunkenly rape them."

That's better than Crest does with dentists. Gotta lead with your strengths man.

Also I wonder if the GOP really thought through what they just did. Reporters are going to talk to all those 65 women who signed the letter. I mean if there is even the smallest tiniest most remote chance that something untoward could get revealed was this a good idea?

Seems questionable at first - but the answer given seems legit.

Ultimately though, why do we really care how in-debt someone is? What bearing does that have on one's job? Unless you're a fucktard congressman who tries to use political fundraising to pay your debts - then we have a problem.
Yeah we do.
If he has money issues, he could be , "influenced" by someone needing a vote to go a certain way.
A SCOTUS needs to be beyond reproach.
Something is wrong with this guy. He's hiding shit.

As much as it pains me to admit it...

Rim Job, that was pretty funny. Credit where credit is due.

I seriously doubt the TDS though. Like Kimmel, I too believe anything named after Trump would have to be sexually transmitted. And since it's you and your ignorant ilk that are getting fucked by the guy, might want to get checked. Just saying. The adoration of a mentally ill wannabe dictator is indicative of it spreading to the brain. Little orange spirochetes yo, could explain the endless apologies for corruption and abhorrent social behavior, the agreement with Trump's distorted reality where everything is about him.

So the R's had 65 people lined up and waiting for this shoe to drop? Really?

Who among us doesn't keep a letter specifically endorsing their lack of rapey character during a narrow window of life in their back pocket?

Ethical people tend not to have trouble finding people to vouch for their character when facing a smear campaign.

It’s sounding like Feinstein knew this was a nothingburger, chose to sit on it, but then when word of it leaked out she had no choice to punt to the FBI to save face.

De Leon is already pouncing.

I wonder how long it took to chase down 60 women from Kavanaugh's high school days & why the GOP would bother...

The people were both protected under the 1A and disruptive of the proceedings and removed to allow for order. Both can be true.

I don't think I ever said that both couldn't be true or not.
They were arrested for their illegal actions.

After background checks, multiple interviews, hundreds of questions answered, hearings, dems pull this #metoo thing from 40 years ago to stall vote last min? Even if it were a liberal judge and something this distasteful was pulled by gop, I’d say it’s unethical and shouldn’t stall the vote. Seems too shady.

You think you could get 65 people you went to high school with 35 years ago to coordinate, on their own, to sign off on a letter about 18 hours after details of the allegation emerged against you?

I said initially the Feinstein letter stank. So does this.

That’s the best part. Virginia Hume is one of them and says they all coordinated in their own after the allegation emerged. Yes Brit Hume’s daughter. The former RNC press secretary.

In the age of social media and social networks, especially for someone high profile like Kavanaugh, it would not be hard at all. Look how easy it was to raise over $1M to challenge Senator Collins.

Similarly, if the signatures are BS, it would be very easy to challenge.

No one is saying they are bs. What they are saying is it smells fishy that the former RNC press secretary and 64 other women coordinated overnight to do this. But she didn’t coordinate it according to her.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has declined to investigate Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh over allegations sent to them by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA).

Matt Zapotosky of The Washington Post quoted an FBI official as saying: “Upon receipt of the information on the night of September 12, we included it as part of Judge Kavanaugh’s background file, as per the standard process.” He also reported that the agency was not opening a criminal investigation into what Kavanaugh may or may not have done as a high school student.

The statute of limitations in DC is 15 years and it wouldn’t be a federal matter anyway. No one would investigate at this point no matter what.

This whole thing from all angles just stinks.

I agree and so do most sane people. It was just a last minute effort to smear him and stall the vote until after the midterm election cycle.

I think it is obvious and looks bad for the democrats like all the other stunts by Spartacus and others.

Sure she did. She knew it was bullshit and a lie and while i'm sure she tried everything at her disposal to verify it in any way, shape, matter or form and she failed.

She should have done with it what it deserved and wipe her ass with it and flush it.

Especially people that have been starring in a circus show like this confirmation battle when the lowest of Democratic scumbags are trying to smear them publicly.

No one is surprised the Democrats are stooping to the lowest level they can possibly hit.

Are you mad because Democrats are getting down and dirty where you and your team reside?

Karma is a bitch, enjoy!
