2) A woman has come forward, no longer an anonymous source, but someone who is going to be attacked as if she "asked for it". She has evidence in a decent alternative universe it would be examined to see if it's credible.

Again, this isn't yet anything worse than who Clarence Thomas is, the Senate destroyed Anita Hill in the process, and so I just don't see this being much different...at least in terms of public opinion/GOP tolerance of this behavior.

Politically, the stakes feel much higher, so the difference, I think, will be stronger Democrat motivation to prevent another Thomas-like sexual deviant from being confirmed and further eroding the standards of the court.

Kavanaugh issues statement—flat out denial this ever happened or that he ever knew this woman. Like I said, this is gonna get ugly (OnBothSides) and I have equal sympathy for both Ford and Kavanaugh‘s family as they become collateral damage in this political battle.

There are enough holes in Ford's story to rip it to shreds and damage her reputation permanently, and given the amount of trauma she already suffered, this could be far worse.

I think things have changed since 92 and lacking an opponent that has baggage in this area (Clintons) the GOP has grievously wounded itself with female voters because of Trump. If they try to destroy this woman like Hill in the run up to the midterms there will be consequences.

So you finally recognized the Republican's risk associated with them being shown for what they are. Naturally, you would want that hidden.

If they are spending millions they've wasted their money. If this accusation has legs then their money won't change that and the vote will be what it will be. If things weigh in Kavanaugh's favor then they'll still have spent money on something that was going to happen anyway. No one is flipping a vote in favor of Kavanaugh because of ads.

One thing though which could be beneficial in getting more facts brought out is if there is a delay on the vote which potentially allows for reviewing whatever Trump and the Republicans haven't successfully hidden.
