Wow the other witness that has been named (Judge) doesn't exactly ring as a good character witness for Kavanaugh. Yeesh.

I don't get your pardon reference but interesting Trump's side piece wants him to cut bait. Its looking worse for Kavanaugh by the hour.
One interpretation of Trumps obsession with Kavanaugh is his view on, for one, pardon power :

And of course the whole thing about not being able to indict a sitting president.. Essentially Kavanaugh can make Trump king.... he is Trumps get out of jail free card.

If she wants to be taken seriously in time she needs to show up. The FBI may investigate but now we're making them look like a political tool at this point and that's serious business.

This really can't happen again. There should be a set in stone input period from the public before the appointment of candidates. Those who allege misconduct have until that time and those who apply will need to commit to being questioned by the FBI if the latter deems investigating appropriate.

This process has been random and bizarre for a hundred years or more too long. We need binding rules and no arbitrary hand waving.

What we need are term limits for the supreme court. I recall hearing we're one of the few (or only?) country to have lifetime appointments for the highest court. Ten or fifteen years seems reasonable. Would certainly limit the damage that creepers like Thomas could do if they are able to slime through the confirmation process.

And you remove the hyper partisan games played with justice seats. You don't have a judge in poor health hanging around because they feel compelled to stay until a different administration comes around. Just set up a rotation, offset it so that it's spaced out replacements (Like Senate seats) and remove the drama around it.

Ditto for the lower federal courts.

It's a Constitutional issue & nobody will change it. Discussion is pointless.

She was extended the opportunity to testify and they delayed the vote to accomodate. As many of you have pointed out, this is a job interview not a criminal case.

They just wanted Monday's hearing to be he said, she said without any investigation and then push the vote forward.

If Judge isn't made to testify under oath, then Billy Mays will jump out of the grave for this Sham-Wow.

Just read that another woman has come forward saying that Kavanaugh sucked her nipples in 1965. I'll supply a link when I find a better source.
That you think there's room to even jokingly conflate sexual assault and breastfeeding...

I gotta wonder, what would it take for you to see women as people?

There appears to be a new letter out from someone who knew Ford and Kavanaugh contemporaneously who claims she knew of the attack shortly after it happened. Who knows if this is true or not, but it certainly increases the need for some real investigation of the issue.

There are too many unknowns for this to be safe ground for the GOP. It's more like a mine field. They'd be smart to spin their way into withdrawing the nomination, blaming Dems & pull another right wing toady out of their treasure chest. Confirmation before the election would be impossible, obviously.

He doesn't even see people as people, he sees them as his team or the other team.

They just need confirmation by December in case the Democrats somehow take the senate.

Not really. The Constitution does not address presidential term limits at all. It is quite specific wrt the tenure of federal judges-

https://constitutioncenter.org/interactive-constitution/articles/article-iii

Article III doesn't specify lifetime appointments, it merely specifies that they serve during good behavior. Pre-22nd amendment, a president could serve as many times as they were elected (and could be impeached for poor behavior). This could just as easily be amended.

The FBI will not investigate something that is allegedly from back in high school. Ms. Ford needs to file a complaint with the local authorities. This was from a former FBI guy, last night on TV. Says this is not something the FBI would, or should get involved in, and won't. So she can decide if she wants to testify to congress, or not. If she is unwilling to put herself on the stand, under oath, then the process needs to continue. Most people, if they're being honest with themselves, know this thing doesn't hold water and that the real reason for delaying the process is thwart a GOP appointed Justice from being confirmed, and or, delayed until after the midterms, in the hopes the Dems gain power. Lets be real about the motives and call them for what they are.
