"Patrick J. Smyth attended Georgetown Prep — an all-boys school in North Bethesda, Maryland — alongside Kavanaugh. Both men graduated in 1983. Smyth signed a letter this summer, before the allegations against Kavanaugh were made public, testifying that Kavanaugh “is singularly qualified to be an Associate Justice on the U.S. Supreme Court,” along with dozen other of the school’s alumni.
Eric Bruce, who is representing Smyth, authored a letter to Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley of Iowa and Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California, the top Democrat on the committee. CNN has obtained a copy of the letter, which includes a quote from Smyth denying seeing any “improper conduct” from Kavanaugh.
“I understand that I have been identified by Dr. Christine Blasey Ford as the person she remembers as ‘PJ’ who supposedly was present at the party she described in her statements to the Washington Post,” Smyth says in his statement to the Senate Judiciary Committee. “I am issuing this statement today to make it clear to all involved that I have no knowledge of the party in question; nor do I have any knowledge of the allegations of improper conduct she has leveled against Brett Kavanaugh.”

So once again contrary to Ford's claim we have yet another person saying they weren't there and never saw Judge Kavanaugh act in such a way.
Why should an investigation hold up the voting process when they didn’t make this an issue back in July when Feinstein knew? They already invited her to speak but if she declines that should be on her and maybe she should file a police or FBI report if she wants an investigation so it won’t hold up the voting process? Or is the investigation and the fact that it’s requested last minute purposely to hold up the voting process?

There should have been one and no one has stopped her from filing a report with the appropriate authorities for an investigation. She has never done that but she can still do that. But why should the investigation hold up the voting process when Feinstein knew since July and Ford had way more time to file the report?

I did and never suggested it disappear with time, but don’t think it’s fair for it to hold up the voting process given how this was brought up last minute. She should proceed with requesting the investigation and it should be done though. Ford and Kavanaugh should also speak under oath to Congress as well.
If you go by the Anita Hill precedent, reopening the background check would take a few weeks max.
