First, any filibuster we get rid of is a positive for the country.
Second, anyone who thinks the judicial filibuster should have stayed should put the blame squarely on Mitch McConnell. He said that Republicans would filibuster ALL Democratic nominees for the DC circuit, regardless of qualifications. That meant that despite not having the presidency or the senate Republicans were vetoing any future appointments to the most important courts in the nation. To anyone who gives a single shit about the function of government that's an unacceptable situation and so McConnell got what he asked for.
Also, anyone who thinks the Republicans would not have abolished the judicial filibuster as soon as they won in 2016 is almost comically naive. The only mistake Reid made was not abolishing the filibuster entirely.
Elections have consequences.
