You're an interesting bird, Jaskalas: A converted neo-con that has realized the error of decades of shitty, nation-killing conservative policy, but there is some sort of social aspect still in your craw....the idea that sexual abuse isn't sexual abuse because women have their place and men have their place: "shut up and take it, bitch."
Why are you ignoring the facts and circumstances of this case?
1: In this case the behavior did not result in a rape. Thus it is far less serious than if it had.
2: Drunk teens are going to do stupid shit. That's called being drunk.
3: He was a minor.
4: It remains unsubstantiated and uncorroborated. Unproven.
I poo poo things that do not matter. This story, even if 100% true, is forgivable in return for a life time of not repeating such an offense. Of doing good and being a good person despite a moment of drug induced weak inhibition. To me, today, the greater offense is if he lies about it. Though being black out drunk would be a decent excuse for not knowing what happened. And it explains how she got away in the first place.
It's the sort of tale that you deal with at the time of the incident. Not decades later at a politically opportune moment.
Oh, right. The "its not a court" logic. As if guilty until proven innocent is logical, or sane. Do you want us reliving the glory of the Salem witch trials? How shall the innocent prove himself today, burning, drowning, buried alive? Maybe hang him first, see if he lives. If he does then he's guilty, and if he doesn't... well who cares? Mob gets its pound of flesh.
I suppose it makes sense that 2018 is not far removed from 1692. We are still just human after all. Can't let silly things like justice get in the way of a good lynching. He is just a Republican after all, those disgusting "other" people are all guilty. He might even have a cat.
