Spokesman for GOP on Kavanaugh nomination resigns; has been accused of harassment in the past

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/su...igns-has-been-accused-harassment-past-n912156

Sources familiar with the situation said Ventry was let go from Bell’s office after parts of his résumé were found to have been embellished, and because he faced an accusation of sexual harassment from a female employee of the North Carolina General Assembly's Republican staff.

Ventry’s termination was described to NBC News as unusually swift for an office with little overall turnover

Yes, not by authoritarians, fascists, totalitarians .......................or you?

I've made no statement on whether I think he's guilty or not. I just expect you to understand that this isn't a trial, and people aren't "innocent" in the real sense of the word until they are convicted.

If you watch someone blow the brain of an infant right in front of you that man is guilty, even if he is innocent in the eyes of the law since he hasn't been declared guilty legally.

Nuance is a thing.

Hopefully this is simple enough for you to understand.

It is, but most reasonable people understand that Kavanaugh is innocent until proven guilty. I'm just assuring you that I am one of those people that believes in due process. Due process that Judge Kavanaugh hasn't received yet.

Again, this isn't a trial and he hasn't been denied due process in any way. All I know about this case is that the accusation seems credible and should be investigated before he gets confirmed.

Well, yeh, but the GOP is getting a bad case of blue balls from all this fooling around. They're dying to slam it in right to the short hairs.

I'm focused on Kavanaugh, when others try to move that focus, such as a Senatorial aide. I get to respond.

Taj earlier in this thread, demonstrating his focus on Kavanaugh:

Lol. You aren’t even good at lying so why do you do it so much?

The burden of proof is on the accuser, not the accused. Simple as that.

Yes but surely we agree there’s no need to prove these allegations to any legal standard. The real question should be if senators think there’s a reasonable likelihood they are true.

After all, this is a job interview. If I thought there were reasonable odds a prospective employee were a sex offender, no thanks.

What standard of proof should suffice then, if not a legal one?

Certainly a higher standard than simply making an accusation and then backing into a defensive crouch when challenged.

You call this reasonable odds? You're about to hire a qualified person when at the last possible minute a competing candidate says he attempted rape 36 years ago with no corroborating evidence. You mean to tell me you would take that seriously?

^^ Conservative wants others to live by their professed beliefs yet they can't live by those themselves. Shocking.
