McConnell should go with Flake's idea, but the Republicans are fine with doing the utterly bizarre. Whatever he chooses will likely result in more losses come midterms.

How could they tell the FBI how to conduct the investigation? They may be able to impose a time limit, but I don't see how they could say "you can only do this and this".
They never interviewed his alleged victims? No one came forth with allegations at the time? They may have only looked at age 18 and beyond? It's no surprise, but still hilarious, the reaction the weasels had to Judge Kavanaugh's testimony yesterday. After living their entire lives on either their knees or rolled over with their "Mount Me" tattoos on full display it's inconceivable to them that, after being threatened, insulted and enduring unsubstantiated accusations of attempted rape, a man looks his accusers in the eye and tells them to fuck off.

I watched the whole thing yesterday starting at 10am, and then right into MSNBC for the evening. I have a case of eyestrain with all that, and I'm emotionally drained as well.
I believe Mrs. Ford. And I believe Judge Kavanaugh believes he did not do what he is accused of.
I have a friend and a relative who were functioning alcoholics at certain points in their lives. I think it's quite possible that BK was so drunk that afternoon/night that he does not remember what happened. But, with the recollections of friends and comments of some school mates, it makes BK's denials of major alcohol issues at that time not credible.
I thought one of the most telling moments of the hearings (among many), was when Sen Durbin asked BK to strongly urge the the FBI further investigate... he would not respond to the question... silence... And obfuscation when the issue of Mark Judge was raised as well.
A glimmer of light/hope, as just now Sen Flake with others have compromised to possibly get the FBI involved for a week before the final vote is taken. We'll see if McConnel and Pres Trump will go along.... Can't wait for Chris Hayes/Rachel Maddow tonite (hair on fire).

I'll trust the opinion of a former FBI guy, I think he knows better. He said they'd have to interview all the people, then if any discrepancies were found, they'd have to re-interview them and then write their findings in a 302.
