My question as well. I'm likely to pick up 2 for my brothers, and wouldn't mind getting myself another guitar, but if these are bound for the dump, i'll pass this time.

Bit the bullet on an electric and accoustic for my brothers. still trying to decide if I want to risk the $34 for an electric for myself as something of a travel guitar.

I really hope this wasn't posted in thinking these are hot for a guitar.

If you notice, these are in the "Toys & Games" section on the Amazon site that is linked.

These are probably no more of a guitar than the Guitar Hero controller for the PS2 game

no, these are real guitars, just not great ones. Kawasaki makes starter guitar kits, meaning they're not going to have a great sound, but you can certainly learn to play on one. I certainly wouldn't recommend one at their usual retail price of $99, but for $18-$30, its a good deal if you want to see if you're even interested in learning to play.

This is definitely super cheap, and possibly a good way to find out if you want to spend more on a better guitar. As a side though, however... I once bought a super cheap 5 string bass to see if I wanted to make the transition. It was of such poor quality, that I sold it off and went back to my 4 string convinced that 5 strings weren't for me. A year or so later, I rethought the idea and tried a higher quality unit. Needless to say, I now can't bring myself to play a 4 string anymore! I've been on 5 strings now for 10 years, and just picked up a 6 string to mess around on. Fun stuff! If you're looking for decent quality instruments for still pretty cheap, I'd check out This place. For the money, there are some great guitars and basses here. Not quite as cheap as the kawi's, but another option to be sure.

I've bought from Rondo Music before and was quite happy with the purchase (it wasn't for me, but I almost ordered one for myself afterwards). The only downside is they're going to stick you with shipping, whereas most of the items from Amazon already qualify for free shipping, and if they don't then they aren't more than a few bucks away, which you can easily fill with guitar picks or something similar.

Nothing wrong with this. Perfect for kids or teens who just want to play a little bit. THey're not going to know the difference. Anyone with any real musical talent wouldn't be buying these anyway.

I'd suggest buying a cheap squier, yamaha, ibanez, etc. entry level off craigslist for 75$. The extra money will make a world of difference.

"anyone with real musical talent wouldn't be buying these blah blah blah"

Most people don't know they have musical talent until they have an instrument. I'd suggest buying something that will at least stay in tune and not sound like hell coming out of some ****** amplifier, so if the kids do have the potential, they won't be turned off to the fact that everything coming out of these types of guitars sounds like sh!t. My 2c.

PS - to OP - if you're going to pimp deals on your site, at least pimp items that have at least been available at some point. These haven't been available for a LONG time. Nothing hot about this.

Thanks OP, alembic 5

Might seem OT, but any suggestions on self-learning lessons/guides online?
