so then what's your guess for the realistic top speed on an unrestricted 300hp bike?
None of what you said challenges what he said. The most recent Busa only does 170ish to the rear wheels. So nothing about that statement was wrong or corrected with your last comment.huh?

You don't need 300hp to do 200mph on a bike.
Japanese bike manufacturers have agreed to limit the top speed to @186mph since 2001+ to prevent import bans. The Suzuki Hayabusa only has @155-162hp depending on year, and it can do 185-196mph depending on whether or not it is restricted.
The fastest a MotoGP bike has gone to date is 217.2 set in free practice this year at the Italian GP on a Ducati GP14. They won't reveal true HP numbers, but 235+ is the official rating.

Gearing matters. And the faster you go the more aero comes into play.
I have a ZX-11D. At most it put out a lowly, antiquated 127 RWHP (145 at the crank).
Its been tested up 175mph.
The fairings really do help once you start getting into the triple digits.
I have a CBR1000rr as well. High 170's at the crank. Mid 150's at the wheel.
Tested top speed is usually high 170's, 180. 30+ hp bought 5 mph at best
On the old, rickity ZX-11 (back when I actually took it out of the garage), I could cruise at 120mph and comfortably run it up to 150mph+ speeds. I've had that thing showing mid 180s indicated (once when I first got the bike on a empty stretch of highway, other times on the runway at the old Grumman place.)
On my CBR, one it hits around 150-160 it just gets messy. Brute forceof the motor fighting it out with aerodynamics to much
Hey guys, I really love bikes since I was a kid and thinking about getting into riding. I just got back from a deployment to Afghanistan and have a big combat paycheck coming to me. Do you think the H2R is a good bike to learn on? I know I know, I'll take it easy at first until I get the hang of things.
140mph is about the top speed of my bike. Not sure I'd want to go any faster than that on a naked bike. I've had it up over 120mph a couple times. That is fast enough for me.
LOL!

Considering the ZX-14 is a nice sport tourer with a nice side bonus of being a natural on a drag strip, the H2 street version will probably continue that trend.
Yeah but the H2 doesn't seem to me that it will be a natural on the drag strip. Short wheelbase means its going to have a lot of trouble even with all the techno wizardry.
The street version is probably replacing the ZX14 in the lineup resulting in the same performance jump we saw going from the ZX12 to the ZX14.

Its only 1000cc
You'll get bored within a year
Triumph was also being sarcastic.my sarcasm meter is broken....did you mean to have an </s> tag with that?
In 1982 I had a 1979 CB750SS and I was arrested for "speeds in excess of 125 MPH".Back before I entered the wonderful world of fairings, I rode an 83 CB750 in all its federally mandated 85MPH speedo glory.
The fastest I ever went on that bike was exactly "Peg that was a little past 85MPH"
The sound of the H2R gave me wood.
