I did find that, as one user suggested, 0.0.0.0 blocking works better than setting the ip to localhost (127.0.0.1)

the thing about the server sending the premature file end was right... happened to me a couple times. Finally I used a download manager (download accelerator pro) and it fixed my problem. I guess they dont stop until they have all 1.6 megs of it or whatever

OK, I'm a new to this P2P stuff. I got it downloaded and installed. But how to I do anything. No help. No manuals. No nothin. I did a search and it found stuff but when I tried to download anything I looked in traffic and it just sat there until I canceled the download. What the hell is ETA for ? How about bandwidth ? Is 1 good and 200 bad or vice versa.

It appears that the LITE version is REALLY LITE because unless you use the real version you can't use this one because there is nothin to tell you how to do anything.

Anybody have docs on this or know where I can find ?

The interfaces for KaZaA, Grokster, the old Morpheus, and this KaZaA Lite are (nearly) identical. If you want basic how-to documentaion I would suggest poking around the KaZaA site.

Basically, you search for files and click to download them. The downloads are queued up ad served depending on availabilty. The software is fairly smart and is able to pull parts of the file from different sources. It will remain in your queue until it is complete. With smaller files, if they don't download initially, you can always go back to your search page and get another version of the file. Also, you can go to your transfers page, right-click, and select 'Find more sources for download' to force the program to look elsewhere for the file. If you are downloading something that is quite big (several hundred megabytes), be prepared to wait because it might take a while to get the entire file...

Here is a hint: After you do your search, select files with the "+" next to it to download. The "+" means that you can expand that selection and see that there are multiple sources found with the exact same file. KaZaA will download from as many sources as possible at the same time. Yesterday I was downloading a file close to 100 Kb/s!

In the beginning try downloading smaller files until you get used to the procedure. In reality is is quite easy compared to the other alternatives out there (Gnuetella/eDonkey/Direct Connect).

Thanks souja. I tried the Kazaa site and it doesn't have any docs. I did try to download a couple of smaller mp3s and it did in fact work. Its just that the UI is not very meaningful for the novice. Even though its not friendly and the UI sucks it may be the best alternative out there so I'll just have to get used to it.

Guess I must be a genius but it seemed pretty easy to me. After awhile all these file sharing programs begin to look alike.

Now I need to find me an ad free WinMX. I hate waking up and having all those damn pop up windows on my desktop.
