KBR just offered me 140k a year to do IT in Iraq/Afganistan/Qatar

As many of you know I quit my job, but I'm in the process of getting it back. However, KBR just offered 140k (80k) tax free for 360 days overseas. Am I crazy? Yes. Will I do it? I dunno. I'm not scared but I don't know what I will do with my dogs. Plus, I just met and fell in love with a District Attorney from Oklahoma --- I'm flying there tommorrow to be with her. She's a bit older -- she's 36. Oh yeah I'm stuck in fvcking Houston since last night and I can't leave until 6 tonight!!!! So instead of having one day to rest before Oklahoma I have ZERO. Fvck Continental. So, AT what the hell should I do?

The risk is very minimal that something actually happens to you. That being said, that risk is still very real, and very present.

Personally, I'd do it. But that's because I have no attachments to this country besides my siblings and parents.

In Iraq, I might be a bit cautious, in either of the other places I'd do it. Heck, I'd go to Iraq too if the price was good enough. We hear about all the kidnappings, but I'm sure that's not a huge percentage of the American civilian population out there.

I wouldn't even do it for 140K...the risk is still very real. If they offered $300K/yr....I'll just make sure they build me a nice and secured NOC and stay in there the whole year playing UT

oh yeah, and remember 140k w/ no tax is like $170k with tax. (no clue how your american tax rates are though)

The risk is EXTREMELY low people dont realise, but yes there is a risk. I was approached as a field translator, FIELD being the operative word. I told them Hell no, but out of curiosity asked what was the precentages of field translators killed or kidnapped, they said out of 4000 4 fell into that category.

So Im assuming its even less if your not in the field meeting and greeting folks.

Do you have any relatives that can look after your dogs? As for the girl, if the feeling is real, heck, what's one year apart? It'll go quick.

Because I value my friends from work, my family and my pets more than I care about money. Money means nothing to me. 140 or 20 wouldn't make a bit of a difference. I'm just in a flux right now, so I decided to consider it.
