I'm running FreeBSD 4.5-stable and KDE3 on an Athlon 1.4@1.6 with 512MB 2100DDR and (while I'm usually a minimalist in my windowmanager selection), it's very pretty and works quite well. No lag whatsoever and great stability thus far...

hmmm ... some folks have been indicating that kde3 has some issues on FreeBSD,
as indicated here.

Are you having any issues with kcminit crashing ?

Well, most of the KDE developers are linux users, so more often that not, other OSes (including Solaris, FreeBSD, and others) aren't tested that well. However, post-3.0 versions of KDE should work with FreeBSD as more FreeBSD users submit patches to KDE.

Does anyone know if the package maintainer for Debian/KDE has a homepage somewhere, similar to the one Branden keeps for X?
Searched some but mostly got results from mailing lists or Debians online package finder.

i just installed kde3 from source, im fairly happy with it (i -o3 for my optimizations). just thought id toss my 2 cents in.

that mosfet liquid theme looks realy cool. but call me a newbie, i cant seem to install it. i cant find documentation anywhere. the makefile layout looks realy odd, any advice?

It's never been truly packaged (still in CVS form).

Do this:

make -f Makefile.cvs (I think it was .cvs anyways. If I'm wrong just change it)

It'll do some chugging and create a configure script and all. Then you can just do your standard install routine:

./configure && make && make install

Only thing is it just sort of decides on a few things. I like the title bars and the syle that it gives me, but I don't want the Liquid splash screen. Just doing a regular make install overwrote my splash screen. I had to go back and reinstall the default manually.

How can I adjust how detailed KDE 3 is? When I set it up for the first time, I chose to make it very detailed and it said it was for "fast processors." Now I'd like to change how detailed the desktop is but i'm not sure how...any help? TIA

I need help installing the Liquid theme. I download the tar file and i do configure and it runs through everything. It says it needs X Libaries and headers. I go back and tell it where they are and still will not work. RH7.2 and KDE3.0

I will be upgrade to RH7.3 soon though but does anyone have a RPM or detail instructions on how to install the theme ?
