I'm thinking of buying this monitor

ANybody care to share their opinion on this.

COntrast ratio of 750:1 seems a bit low. I haven't heard of KDS , hows that company ? Hows their return policy for dead pixels ?

I need a 24" monitor or bigger,

because my course e-book will have to be read on a monitor from now on, and the bigger the monitor the better. So I'm thinking they may seem better on a big monitor.

Well, I had a KDS CRT, and I liked it, but that was years ago. But that does look like a nice monitor for $309

What do you intend to use the monitor for? Gaming/TV/Movies? Or just for office work/web browsing?

You would be better off with the Acer X243Wbd. While the KDS has one (1) HDMI input and consumes less power while "on", it is hardly worth the $40USD premium (after the immediate savings on Newegg). At any rate, your best bet would be to go to the company website and research their returns policy. If you feel their terms are reasonable (i.e. 5 dead pixels or more), then give KDS a shot. Otherwise stick with some more well known names like Acer, Samsung, Dell, etc. for warranties. I have two Acer 22" monitors and I have had no issues with either them and one of them is about 1.5 years old.
