Why not just trade up-front money for royalty fees? If he believes in the films that much, that would be a much better deal for him.

And yeah, everybody and his brother is going to be lining up for Matrix 2 & 3. Me included.

IIRC the chase scene is the single most expensive scene ever shot in a film.

But in any case, he just signed away his share of ticket sales. I'm sure he still has his negotiated pay for his appearance in the film though.

Many projects have been scrapped before...even after pouring massive amounts of money into them. Such as some video games....Babylon 5, Prey, ....possibly Duke Nukem...
Sierra scrapped Babylon 5 for a ....Rodeo bull riding game. Even though it was almost finished.

It says he gave up his cut of the ticket sales; he should still get the upfront fee, but gives up the backend on sales.

i heard they spent half a billion on the sequals...that's w/o advertising and animatrix productions......

they have to make at least 300+ mil on each movie........

aha...i think they'll make 500mil on each movie eh?....but they should've released the 3rd movie a year later AFTER the dvd's and stuff came out....so more people have time to see the movie and go "dude!!" and watch the 3rd movie.....cuz i hear that they made the 2nd movie have a insane crazy cliffhanger that'll force you to watch the 3rd movie no matter what...


but dang, that's crazy keanu reeves did that...hopefully the movie generates a sh!tload of money to pay reeves back...aha...

Uhh....they were going to scrap it in the middle of production...its not some thing they just decided they couldn't do because of money just yesterday.
