Hi all,
I'm having a problem with an HP Color Laserjet 4600. I recently switched the computer it is hooked up to with a computer that has Windows 2000. Originally the printer was connected to a computer with Windows XP.
After swapping out computers I had problems installing the printer on the Windows 2000 machine. It is connected via parallel port and Windows said it could not find it when I ran the Add Printer wizard. After some putzing around, I tried enabling Legacy Plug and Play on the LPT port and Windows finally found it. After that I was able to print just fine.
After restarting the computer, however, I tried printing and it showed that the document was sent to the printer, but nothing ever printed. I tried again and watched the printer this time and I saw that the Data LED was flashing, but nothing ever printed. I hit cancel job on the printer and it displayed the message Canceling Job so it seems that it did get the job.
Now, I tried unchecking Legacy Plug and Play detection and then rechecking it and Windows finds the printer again and I am able to print. It works until I restart the computer and then I have to repeat this procedure again.
Any ideas on how I can stop this?
