Once, I had a friend in the late 60's who took his first and only tablet of LSD-25. He got into a panic and asked someone to take him to the hospital, perhaps so the ER could administer some Thorazine. The literature on that drug suggests that it enhances sensory input, overpowering the mind's ability to process the excess input rationally.

This may be similar to the effect of too much input from the internet and other new-tech sources. The Trumpies may just not be capable of dealing with it rationally. So to make sense of the troubles they perceive, they attempt to concoct and fashion any argument they can that promotes some profound action -- more often directed at factors that aren't really causative.

You are on to something here, I think. I wouldn't limit it to the internet specifically, but the extended input and kind of input afforded by modern world wide news gathering and it being paid for by advertising. Human beings are adapted by elolution to be on the look out for threat and danger triggers the fight or flight response.

So in an effort to sell more product to the public the news becomes more and more disaster oriented, more sensationalist, and more catastrophe oriented, leaving people in a constant state of anxiety and fear. It is my belief that this constant stress caused by the environment we live in, and the profit that can be extracted from them by constant exposure to it that has created people with enlarged right amydalas to cope with the extra dimensional needs of life in a constant state of anxiety.

It is a scientifically peer reviewed proven fact that fear cause people, liberals included, to become more conservative and a constant exposure to frightening experiences has affected the American brain. American not so long ago was a safe place to life, far away from the fear of invasion or world cataclysm. Rural people in particular are the last to come to this table. You can go on YouTube and watch a new form of country expression, videos about how to deal with trespassing on rural land as well as the myriad ways to deal with a Zombie Apocalypse.

Well those are the external facts, but what is actually happening. This is my opinion:

What triggers fear is anticipation, the awareness of some sort of danger lurking near by, generally sparked by some well known tell of a predator, something strange and previously never encountered, treacherous terrain, etc. But in humans there is another source, the imagination relf represented to us as thoughts. Thought is fear and when fear manifests in undefined anxiety and panic, thought races creating a paranoid state or a psychic break. This can lead to a panic attack that may quickly die down, or a full blown psychosis that leaves lasting damage, PTSD, etc.

And what is it that we most fear. It is awareness of what we really feel. If you pop LSD and are not aware that what can happen is the surfacing of feelings long suppressed, you can have an experience of impending death, which is only a memory form childhood where we did die psychically. This will happen simultaneously as thinking begins to race out of control in all manner of negative imaginings, a very bad trip indeed.

On the other hand, the the potent nature of the drug can blast you right through the death experience where you wake up in heaven. The insights and the realization thus provided can also have dramatic long term positive effects. There is some hopeful work going on today with using psilocybin to treat depression in terminal cancer patients.

I'm fairly convinced that BonzaiDuck is either a Moonbeam dupe, or his long lost twin brother and they should reunite.

Long paragraphs. Drug use. Random off topics.... Check, check, check.

Can we change it from the 'right' and 'left' to the 'wrong' and 'left'? Would be more appropriate i think.

No, that would be a rigid ideology which is wrong by definition.

When we treat everyone who disagrees with us as "wrong" or "stupid" then we stop learning.

Re: #12

"An appeal to nature is an argument or rhetorical tactic in which it is proposed that "a thing is good because it is 'natural', or bad because it is 'unnatural'". ... In philosophical frameworks where natural and good are clearly defined in a specific context, the appeal to nature might be valid and cogent. "

As a professor of mine used to say (maybe still does): Context is king.

One problem with debate on a text forum is the lack of context in which many arguments are made. Many posters are guilty of logical fallacies, yes. However, not having context leads to so many assumptions being made that nearly all argumentative posts can be quarantined into one logical fallacy or another.
