Keeping Computer Cables in Their Place

Anyone have any pictures/suggestions on how to organize and keep all the cables that flow to and from their computer in some semblance of order? This is really getting unmanageable.

zip ties.

also, for the ATA/33 cables, slice them with an exacto knife every 5th wire, then bundle them(make sure you don't cut the wire!)

Just take a knife, make 2-inch cuts in the middle of the cable, every 5th wire. If you did it write, you'll have 7 cuts. Stick your fingers in between the cable (through the cuts) and pull apart. Once it's done for all of them, tape them however you feel or get some tubing and push it in there.

Live and die by the zip ties my friend! I have at zipties on almost every wire on my computer. Monitor cable to long? coil and ziptie... Audio cables need to be ran along the wall? Those smaller zipties are perfect for holding them in a single group... Wire from your power supply blocking airflow? A ziptie can pull them off to one side and help tame them... Go buy a few bags, i can't live without them... They're up there with duct tape.

watch out for those zip ties...they become addictive, sure they make everything look neat but when do you stop?...the back of my computer is neat and tidy now, but i have restricted my mouse movement to 1" square. its hard to see any of the cables due to all the zip ties, i had to get zip ties to zip up my spare zip ties....zip ties zip ties zip ties!
one day the madness will end

for you floppy cable, unless you have atape drive or a second floppy = | , cut off the huge excess most cables have, seal the end with electrical tape to prevent shorting, and round whats left!, viola! super short and small floppy cable... NOTE: make sure the part with the TWIST is the side you keep... or you'll have a useless cable on your hands...

I do so many builds and I've found the most elegant way to do it is to bundle up all the power/data cables going to the drives, and coil the long floppy cable around them two or three times before plugging it into the floppy drive. This kills two birds with one stone: it gets rid of the excess floppy cable length, and it ties the rest of the cables away from the heat sources (CPU, video card) without having to use zip ties which are a pain when you need to disassemble something fast.
