Like KK, I did the Mega Tour (3.5 hours long) at Kenendy Space Center and it was super cool. :awe:

You didn't miss much by skipping Walt Disney World (BTW, Animal Kingdom > Epcot > Hollywood Studios > Magic Kingdom), but Islands of Adventure (right next to Universal Studios) is something I would've wholeheartedly recommended.

Maybe next time we visit my Mom. The trip was mostly about seeing her and her getting to spend time with her grandson and that we accomplished in a big way. It was a really good visit... but too short. I haven't seen my Mom in probably 2 years at least. Plus she had breast cancer this year along with a double mastectomy... :'(

Whoa, sorry to hear about your mom's health. Hope she's doing great. Spending time with her was a definitely a higher priority.

 on the pics, moks78! I'll try to dig up the pics I took at KSC in the next couple of days and share 'em here too.

When I was there in 1976, one could tour an Apollo program blockhouse. Do they still offer that?

Interesting. Sure has changed since the last time I was down there. I was pregnant with my youngest - he just turned 24. Watching the launches with our 3 small children was something extremely memorable. In-laws are no longer with us so there's no real reason to go to florida any more.

BF and I did the Mega Tour (3-3.5 hours long) where we got a narrated tour inside a bus.

Partially visible in the background is a crawler (transporter)

We got off the bus to see this launch pad

We were driven closer...

This is about 100 yards from the launch pad

I just read a book on the early american space-flight program... it was interesting how many of the workers involved formerly worked for Nazi Germany, and that Von Braun, the big pusher for the program, was a former SS officer. I doubt they mentioned that in the exhibit?

Awesome pics! We went there a couple of days before the last shuttle launch in 2011, absolutely loved it and could have spent forever there. It was also cool because we got to see Transformers 3 in 3D IMAX at the space center.

If you were a rocket scientist and lived in Germany during the 1930s of course you worked for Nazi Germany. There is no evidence he ever committed any atrocities and becoming an SS Officer seems to have been required for him to continue his work.

No, I don't think that at all. I was just wondering if Kennedy Space Center is just MENTIONING it. The book I read didn't give me a negative view of Von Braun at all, it's just something that interesting to read about.
