One might think that SlowSpyder is uninterested in the murder rate in Chicago and other large cities in 1970, 1980, 1990, etc, before those "evil patriot hating" gun laws started coming about. One would have to be honest to approach the relevant data.

While I won't take from the usual engagement in policies to prevent these shootings (or satire thereof), I am compelled to look at the frequency and deadliness of these events. Thankfully (?) in looking at actual data, it's hard to assert with certainty that apparent increases constitute a trend rather than random variation, but I still feel confident enough to take the trend at face value. That's very troubling. I don't see any legal or policy changes over time that really explain the difference. Which makes me want to know why. It wouldn't stop me from intervening on the ways that would clearly help, but I don't want to miss intervening on whatever is responsible for the uptick.

How about we get rid of crazy 15 year olds? How about we get rid of huge high schools so, we have a better chance to spot crazy 15 year olds? How about we don't cram a huge number of hormone driven kids into a small area so they won't gnaw on each other like rats?

If these kids had easy, legal, access to marijuana and prostitutes, along with better firearms training, there wouldn't be a problem.

This has always been about the failure of adults to adequately provide for the youth of our nation.

Kid is gonna be famous now. Maybe not Paddock famous or Lanza famous but certainly pretty famous. Pretty soon his picture is going to be viral and he will get some memes on him.

He actually lived so he gets throngs of reports sitting outside of his trial. Likely will have his sentencing televised.

We get to peddle the story and make it even more famous because we will discuss it in the context of the never ending debate about gun control. But he didn't care about gun control, he cared about making his mark in this world. Congratulations kiddo, you did it, and we helped you the whole way along.

I'm not sure I can think of another case where a shooter lived. I'm sure there are some, but it definitely seems unusual. I personally have trouble imagining that shooters have any intent of surviving their assault. I would love the chance to talk to him and try to learn more about how such acts become possible.
