Yeah, I nabbed one at BB for $324 or something like that as soon as I saw the thread here...I did have to go to 3 stores to find it though...
True, if you have an HDTV and you need component switching this receiver is not for you. It's one of the few weak points of this unit IMO. However, I don't use video switching on my receiver... I prefer direct connections. This isn't always possible if your TV has a limited number of component inputs, though.Originally posted by: deahdeen
I wouldn't recommend this receiver. I bought it when it was on sale at BB a couple months ago and wasn't very happy with it. The component video switching only has a 10MHz bandwidth and for HDTV you need around 30MHz. It made both my HDTV and progressive DVD player look like crap. I do wish that more receivers came with the RF remote this has. I miss that part since I returned it and bought a HK AVR-325. Also, the digital inputs weren't that plentiful.

I agree. I do not have HDTV at this time, and do not plan to at any time in the near future. Even if I did, I would still prefer to run the DVD and VCR directly into the TV. Most decent sets these days have at least 2 AV inputs, which is all I need. I have a seperate TV that is dedicated to the PS2/GC, etc, so it is not an issue at all for me. Nice to know for the future though.
I was just letting people know so they didn't feel screwed later down the line. A receiver is something you keep for a while(unless you are rich) and HDTV will eventually be commonplace. I have an X-box too so I needed the extra component video inputs. One other thing about this receiver is that the digital inputs aren't assignable so if you're DVD player has one type of digital out that doesn't match the digital in of the receiver you'll have to hook it up differently. It's not that big of a deal, but it could be confusing when you try to teach other people how to turn everything on. "No, hunny the DVD setting is really the cable and the DVD is really the cable box..." I hate those types of conversations.
Can anyone confirm that the crossover frequency for the bass is set at 80hz and isn't adjustable?
Just picked one up for $317 new in box at Circuit City. Also, these have a 2 year warranty parts/labor from the mfgr.
