kernel32.dll error

My friend had this problem after updating his McAfee antivirus. It required him to reboot and ever since he gets a message saying the particular file he downloaded had caused an error in kernel32.dll. how does he get around this? I was thinking i could give him my copy of kernel32.dll and he could replace his with mine. will that work? any other solutions?

Try your's , more than likely you will need to remove that particualar file .

sounds like the BadTrans Virus. you need to get it out of the registry. symantec has a download to remove it properly. good luck

Good luck trying to run an OS without this file. This is, like, the kernel.

If you're running W2K or WXP, try running sfc /scannow to replace all system files from source media.

thanx guys for the help. gave him a copy of my kernel32.dll and it didnt work. so as usual, the solution to all windows outbursts... REINSTALL! running ME by the way. hey, isnt it possible to just get that one file from the disk? I remember doing this sometime back.

Why doesn't your friend just delete his McAfee's virus program....and then reinstall it again?
