Kerry 252 - Bush 286

Since 1948 which includes 15 elections, this one ranks 6th in closeness in the popular vote. While the margin of electoral votes is 34, Bush made huge gains in the popular vote. 3.5 million or a 3% margin. It's a solid win, that's all I'm saying.

BTW sorry about my earlier math, I think I'm brain dead after staying up until 3 am and getting up at 6:15 am..

On a side note, has anybody noticed the similarity of the Republican/Democratic states and the Union/Confederate states? The only difference I see is Ohio!

Popular vote is mingless because all it measure of is how many people in the locked states had either nothing better to do or a local election that was important to them
