Kerry camp spins its wheels

"Sen. John Kerry spoke about the plight of the American worker when he traveled to Detroit earlier this week, a safe message for the blue-collar workers who build cars there.

So it was a little strange that the campaign picked as its press-pass logo for its Motor City tour the gleaming showcase car of a foreign auto company ? Rolls-Royce ? that makes cars priced far outside the financial reach of any middle-class voter.

"That's an insult to the auto worker, it's an insult to the American worker, it's an insult to mainstream America," said Sam Burwell from Corunna, Mich., a third-generation auto worker for General Motors. "It also shows who he's really in touch with: his European, elitist French friends and not Americans like me. A Rolls-Royce, for cryin' out loud.""

WTF dude? I don't care if he has a freaking Yugo on his press pass, or worse yet, an Aztek. Do you honestly think fluff content posts like this are going to change anyone's mind? You need to slow down on the "post thread" button and consider what's worthwhile to post and what's not. Not like I'm any better, but at least I don't put stuff up critical of a political candidate because of what's pictured on a disposable credential ID.

Don't you think that you're taking this a bit too seriously?

Yeah Rip, perhaps next we can get a blow-by-blow post of how Kerry gets ready in the morning including the consistancy of his AM dump? Firm? Loose? I'm telling you, we NEED to know.

Did you know Rolls-Royce North America employs over 6,600 people in this country? It's true. Not only that Rolls Royce is a UK company originally, not a french company.

Here's some other interesting facts, perhaps you should read up on this further...

- More Rolls-Royce engines
built in the U.S. than
anywhere else in the world

- 6,600 U.S. and 1,500
Canadian employees

- Facilities at 77 locations in
29 states and seven
Canadian sites in six provinces

- $1.3 billion annually to
U.S. vendors in 46 states
and Washington, D.C.,
generating 15,000
additional U.S. jobs

- $250 million (Canadian)
annually to Canadian
vendors in five provinces,
generating approximately
500 additional Canadian
jobs

- Over $1 billion in exports

- $2.8 billion in annual sales

- Total U.S. investment, $1 billion and growing

- US interests hold
approximately 35% of
Rolls-Royce shares

So what are you trying to say, that this wasn't a serious post? That I shouldn't take your apparent disapproval of Kerry seriously? That you agree with Kerry putting a non-US car on his press passes? That you're one of his "elitist European friends," or wish you were?

elitist is using your daddys power to jump spots in line to hide during war. the worst example of elitism, where the children of the powerful do not have to serve.

you should really stop using the term you hack

Rolls Royce is also a part of Allison, which is a major defense contracter and employs quite a few people in it's own right.

I bet that suit he wears is made in Italy too, the bastard.

And chances are his computer was assembled in China! WHERE WILL IT END??

As for insulting/degrading the American auto worker, GMC has done much more to that end than Kerry ever will.

John Kerry, automobiles, and the truth just don't mix well.

Kerry has previously stated he doesn't own any SUV's

well, the family owns a Range Rover, and mulitple other SUV's)

he claims to favor cars built in the USA by United Auto Workers

curiously he touted his Canadian made Chrysler as an example of how he "buys" amercian

this guy should just stay away from anything related to automobiles...

i REALLY get a kick out of liberals trying to defend this blithering on Kerry's part....

Kerry himself will disavow the "Rolls Royce" symbolism soon enough.....

Would you prefer him to boast about his American-built Toyota?

are you interviewing for an advisor position with the Senator's campaign staff?

Don't waste your time insulting me; I'm more conservative than you think.

I just think that the auto industry has a terrible record with being faithful to the American worker, and I find it ironic that so many classically "foreign" cars are built in the US.

Yawn. Riprorin, you need to take a nap. These posts reek of desperateness.

Although I don't agree with a lot of what you say, I can nod at a few things once in a while. You have to be able to do better than this.

Are you sure that's not the aircraft engine company? The two are not affiliated. Either way it doesnt change the fact that this is just another retard post by Rip.
