I went 100/0, not because I agree with everything he does, but almost everything I do. I can't stand Kerry, therefore I didn't want to portray that I agreed with any of his flip-flops.

Whats this? The liberal media strikes again?

They media failed to report the 380tons of conventional weapons were missing BEFORE Iraq was liberated. The stockpiles were not there when troops went to secure the site after Baghdad was liberated.

There was no surveilance because when the 101st went in in April of 2003 the explosives were already gone.. See the other thread on this.

They are in place right now analyzing data - that's their job.
What makes you think we have to raise taxes and train and hire more ?
We've been doing this for 30+ years.
Because obviously we don't have enough to monitor every satellite in real-time, which is what you suggested we should be doing. If we did, as you pointed out, this never would have happened.

As usual, you either don't have a point or hid it pretty well. Your comment has absolutely nothing to do with what you quoted.

Anyone else care for a strawman? I have collected plenty in this thread.

And you know more about this than I do ? How is that.
It was ignored, and if you knew anything about Sat-Intel you would know it as well.
We do monitor everything real time - that's a fact.

Wash Post

<CLIP-1>
The disclosure came less than a month after ElBaradei warned the council that U.N. satellite photos had detected "widespread and apparently systematic dismantlement" of buildings linked to Iraq's former covert nuclear weapons program. Those buildings "housed high precision equipment" that had been subject to U.N. monitoring during Saddam Hussein's reign.

<CLIP-2>
In satellite photos of the Qaqaa site taken in November 2003 and shown to The Washington Post on Monday by senior U.N. officials, signs of damage from previous U.S. bombing campaigns and looting were evident. But the facilities that stored HMX and RDX were still largely intact, according to the officials

<PS> Only U.S. Sat-Intel has this capability, & we provide that data to the UN

Great, so not only was there NO WMD but a lack of conventional cache as well.

Double the Lie.

Bush has ultimate responsibility for the actions of his government, especially in a case like Iraq where the war was not 'managed' by legislative bodies.

IF there had been a concerted effort to protect the explosives, or if they had been protected and someone personally screwed up, resulting in them being taken, then CycloWizard's argument would be pretty good. As it is, there is no such evidence, and since it was a known stockpile, it should have been a big priority.

I'm not an explosives expert, but based on the amount of tnt needed to take down an apartment building, 350 tonnes sounds like more than enough to level the downtown core of a medium-sized city.

Bush has no choice but to try to dodge this one at this time - it's now too close to election day to accept responsibility and try to build trust through honesty. Denying any responsibility is a pretty tough pill to swallow though for anyone looking on.

380 tons. Who cares? why is it gone, where did it go, and why was it un protected? how long has this adminstration lknown about it and what the hell are they doing about it now?

Try and focus.:roll:

Wow, it's almost as though the army generals or whomeever were right. Mr Bush, we need more troops to do this. mr Bush's reply. Nope. What a ARGHHHHHHHH. Bush will be assassinated if he wins, I just know it. (Discaaliamer, not me)

So the weapons were secure until the US decided to invade. Then they failed to keep track of a known significant store of weapons during the actual invasion.

That doesn't change very much.

Hmmm, let's see. Saddam had the "Conventional" explosives nicely stored and tucked away.

Even had Migs buried in the sand

We decide to invade and the explosives dissapear and we have no idea where they are.

Who has egg on their face again???

0.1% of the explosives in Iraq go missing during the war? Say it ain't so!

It'll be interesting to see if the next Dem war has as many monday morning quarterbacks as OIF had.
