I have been battling with weight problems since I was 24-25 after college. I went from 180 all the way up to 284 at my highest (currently 261, 35 year old male, 5'9" stocky build).
After seeing such great improvements from my coworkers using a ketogenic diet, I decided to do it myself. 3 weeks into it and I am just not a huge meat fan. Not a vegetarian, but I don't feel like I want to keep eating this way.
I am not interested in eating any processed foods. I love fruits, vegetables, and protein like chicken and nuts. However, the internet is just full of misinformation..he says she says kind of info. The keto people say that insulin response generated from carbs increase chance of inflammation, disease, cancer, etc.. and the carb people quote the dangers of low carb living (potential problems with kidney problems, lipidemia, etc)
Yes, I want to lose weight. It's okay if it takes me a year to do it. I just want to live the absolute healthiest I can. I want to eat to prevent disease, but I don't want to be super low carb and in nutritional ketosis to do it. I am still on 12.5mg of Atenolol (beta blocker) daily for heart palpitations that I would like to get off of as well (many say it causes weight gain..although not sure how much at only 12.5mg)
I am sorry for the rant.. does anyone have any suggestions.
