Keurig Coffee Maker

I used one of those machines when I was in college and they worked well but I find them a bit excessive now. A quality whole bean that I can grind myself works nicely and is much cheaper in the long run. And there's much less waste. I compost my coffee ground and I don't use paper filters (I have a brass one (i think it's brass)) with my Cuisinart coffee maker. That means the only waste I get from brewing coffee is one bag a week.

Keurig lists the Top 10 on their site.

Green Mountain Our Blend is also close to DD coffee...some like the kona's too.

Vermont Blend is also a popular one.

I think you can order 5 of any single coffee for $2.95 from Keurig direct. They also have a few 5 k-cup sample packs for $2.95

I drink the Timothy's Kona blend K-cup. Its pretty good, nutty, smooth.

I tried both the pods and k-cup. I found the pods to lose freshness very fast, also much weaker coffee and more of a mess. The pods are much cheaper though. I went with the Keurig system. Although I mostly use a french press, I am not a morning person so a 30 second cup of coffee with no cleanup is just what I needed. The 50 cent Keurig K-cups are not cheap but it saves me from the 10 minute $2 starbucks burnt coffee. Also, like others mentioned, its nice to provide a mix for everyone, tea, hot chocolate, decaf, all in one system. While the Keurig system is not the best cup of coffee, its pretty dam good and the convenience is well worth it even for a french press snob like me.

I been drinking coffee from keurig coffee maker for a couple years now. (at the office). Just got one home this past Christmas.

This is my favorite. coffeewhiz.com prices are pretty good.

yes.. i know that... but open coffee bags go BAD after a while...

I grind a few days' worth at a time and keep it in an airtight glass container. It has to be fresher than some pre-ground pod that's been sitting around for god knows how long.

My main gripe is having to rinse the filter, but that takes maybe 30 seconds. Still worth it IMO.

So buy less than a pound. Almost every grocery store and coffee store on the planet (and possibly some on Mars) will sell you < 1 lb of beans or even grind them for you.

Just got a Cuisinart Grind and brew. Thing makes some great coffee, been using 8 O'clock original beans from walmart, cheap and tasty. http://www.kitchenu.com/shop/p...px?ref=shopping&sku=13

I just buy beans and grind them before brewing. Takes just a couple seconds and promises freshness. Keeping the beans in a sealed glass jar is a good idea. In any case, I drink enough coffee that a bag or can of coffee (if I don't get beans) doesn't sit around long enough to get stale enough to notice.

This looks interesting but expensive.

I'm the only one that drinks coffee in my house also and got one of those Senseo coffer pod systems for dirt cheap but the coffee taste like crap IMO.

Donut Shoppe Coffee K-Cups are the best of the best. Get a 2-box pack of them from Amazon next time they go on sale and use Subscribe & Save to get 48 K-Cups for ~$15 easy.

Love my Keurig but still value a cup of Dunkin Donuts or Wawa over anything it brews, though it's a great way to save time and money in the morning.

Yeah i was surprised how good the 8 O'Clock coffee was for the price. I got mine at Target.

Yeah i was surprised how good the 8 O'Clock coffee was for the price. I got mine at Target.

8 O'Clock French Roast is my favorite coffee bar none. I use an antique hand mill to grind the beans before I brew , and it comes out perfect every time. I've spent some ridiculous money on gourmet coffee, and none has been as good as * O'Clock.

french press it

It says "3 cup" but it's really just one 12oz cup at a time. Microwave your water for 1-2 minutes and take 20 seconds to run your grinder. Let it sit for 3-4 minutes while you get finished packing up for work and then pour it in your mug as you head out the door. Give it a quick rinse when you get home.

Heck of a lot cheaper than these contraptions and you have access to any type of bean you'd like to try.

not as convenient...making a french press cup in less than 10 or so mins is pretty optimistic, yet still not as easy as pushing a button and with no intervention coming back to a decent cup of coffee.

Timothy's Sugar Bush Maple is my current favorite. With the 55 pack of to-go coffee cups, there's nothing that has to be cleaned daily.

Let's not have this devolve into one of the hundreds of food elitism/you don't need a rice cooker if you own a pot threads. There is clearly a market for both types of coffee brewing and one does not replace the other. The single cup systems cannot be matched for speed or convenience. Their major drawback is price.

Bed Bath & Beyond sells the box for $10 and then you can use the 20% coupon to bring it down to $8

This is the cheapest I have found, but their selection is limited. Luckily for me they have the 4/5 flavors we use.
