Keurig Quality seems low

So I got a Keurig Plantium for X-mass. It worked nice until last night where it says "Prime" every time I hit Brew. We have a Keurig at work that completley stopped working, no power notthing. The company is real responsive in replacement (shipping new one). Do these have a higher breakage rate?

Interesting...never knew of a Keurig that needed priming.

Do this:
1. Turn off the Keurig b70
2. Remove the water tank
3. Place the water tank back on the unit and press very hard from the top so that you get a tight seal
4. Fill with water and test
5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 until you get a good seal
6. Once you have a working unit again, NEVER EVER remove the water tank. Fill the tank with a cup or some other jug like container.
7. Go back to your normal morning routine, free of expletives.

Their flavored coffees suck as do their "cappucinos" but I had a cup of Caribou the other day that was actually quite good.

Never had any break in my experience (3 at previous employer, 2 now). But they are shitty coffee.

In a nutshell, I vehemently disagree about the quality. I've used the regular keurig, the pro, and the commercial models all without an issue. I have the cuisinart at home with no problems.

It's a pretty ridiculous assumption that just because yours is defective means quality is low all around. Maybe the box got dropped or it was a return.

You do have to descale these more than a regular drip pot or else it won't brew a full cup. I run some vinegar through mine and let it soak once every 3-6 months.

I think I read on slickdeals, some of their older gen machines have a high rate of failure. Don't know how accurate that is. I think they've got some tasty flavors.

You can look into Nespresso machines, which are pretty big in Europe.

Mines was defective, as well as the one at work. A freind told me that the older Keurig had quality issues. If you look online there are blogs from various fourms regarding issues.

They are losing their exclusive patent rights this year and there will be plenty of additional competitors by Christmas.

I bought one before XMas, it's working perfectly. The one at work has been working flawlessly for years.

they make a terrible cup of coffee

They do alright. I got my mother a cheap(!) one for Xmas, and she loves it. It makes good coffee. I'm opposed to them though. They're expensive to buy, and operate, and the coffee is inferior to a low tech French press. I'd never own one, but they're ok for others I guess.

1. Buy $20 Black & Decker coffee maker from Walmart and $10 grinder
2. Buy $1 pack of filters and $5 bag of coffee
3. Grind beans, add filter, add water, turn coffee maker on.
4. ???
5. Profit

I can't see the allure of these single cup things. Maybe in an office? They do make terrible coffee. Plus the K-Cups are expensive and each machine has it's own proprietary cups.

No way. I wake up, flip the switch on the thing, take a leak, press one button and get a cup of coffee. Drip brew, even fast machines, take at least 20 minutes to get a decent pot of coffee. There's no way to brew one cup before you leave either.

I like drip coffee, but these keurigs are really convenient.

Keurig style is better than drip (depends on your k-cup supplier - green mountain - pretty shitty - Tully's better - Dunkin Donuts horrific - use a reusable one and fill with your own freshly ground single-origin/varietal is best), but I still get better coffee with a french press at home.

Convenience factor is fucking big here. Press a button, go pee - wham got your coffee out the door. We have one at the office and its a no-brainer now. Don't know why anyone would use anything else (in the office)

It completely depends on the type of coffee you buy - just like a drip machine. Buy crap coffee=terrible taste.

I like the green mountain donut house from costco. It ends up being somewhere around .40 per cup, which is not bad at all.

I just got one for xmas. Not sure on the model. However I press the button for the biggest amount and it's not that much.. I figured something was wrong with it. I'll have to do a little research.

Even the largest cup is not that large, I've had the best results with the regular 8oz setting, and sometimes I'll brew two into one cup.

I can't vouch for Keurig coffee, but my K-cup maker is fantastic and I love a wide variety of flavors like Dunkin Donuts etc.

This.

Then again, I'm guessing most Keurig lovers "brew" flavored coffee so its a moot point.

EDIT: What's funny is, when I read the thread title I thought the OP was complaining about the quality of the coffee, not the machine!
