if anyone needs to do something with their life it's Kevin Smith's stupid fucking daughter (and himself) since they still have the time in their day to read stupid twats from pre-pubescent douchebags on Twitter and react emotionally to it.
I'm not sure where all your anger is coming from over this? First off, just because someone is a 'celebrity' doesn't mean they don't have time, or aren't just regular old human beings like the rest of us. If anything they have *more* time for not having shit jobs like most people.

There's just an ironically odd level of celebrity worship in your comment, as though celebs are on some pedastal above reacting to people attacking their children.

I personally thought Smith's comment was pretty tame all things considered and good advice. Too many people are just worthless trolls jealous that someone else has something ... but they do nothing to make anything enjoyable or positive for others.

Smith is spot on in pointing that out.

Then its odd how you continue on ranting against answering the troll... while you expend more words and effort than Smith did doing just that yourself! (And talk about reacting emotionally! )

No biggie, I just found the irony of it kinda odd, yet fascinating is all.

virgin gamergater posts on girl's instagram, get's slammed by her dad, Kevin Smith.

This guy has no idea what he wakened by drawing the attention of Kevin Smith.

Also, can someone explain something to me about this generation: why would such an idiot use a photo of themselves when posting trash like this? Are all of these internet kids fundamentally retarded?

Many people (including adults) don't think about their actions. Remember Justin Sacco? The lady who tweeted right before her flight to Africa "Going to Africa. Hope I don't get Aids. Just Kidding, I'm White!!" This is a grown woman. Not a teenager. She got fired. She's going to have to live with that Tweet the rest of her life. That's going to be hew legacy. That one tweet.

It's so easy to get angry and jealous. It's also so easy to just grab your smartphone, hit up Facebook/Twitter/Instagram and post stupid sh*t that could come back to haunt you for a very long time.

Another nice post from Zaap.

I thought Smith's comment was particularly brilliant because he not only put the little douche in his place, he generated a positive nugget of life advice out of it. He didn't call him an assclown or chode-juggler (though he deserved it), but told him that he would find more value in life (and positive attention) if he strove to follow his own dreams.

I'd be willing to bet that she's received an order of magnitude more flack because of her gender and 'fame' than she has for her first name(s).

Furthermore, I'm wondering how many female characters represented in modern culture haven't been sexualised/objectified. Just because someone, somewhere has done that, it doesn't mean that every person who names their offspring is wanting to sexualise them.
1) I never suggested it was only because of her name that she catches hell.

2) Uh, there is a difference between a fictional character that has been sexualised during the course of her characterisation, and one where being sexualised *is* her characterisation.

Honestly, I'm surprised people are objecting to this. Kevin Smith, noted comic book nerd, named his daughter after a character he used to get a woody for, one who routinely is drawn in sexual poses while she is abused by the Joker.

Like, would you call your daughter Jessica Rabbit? Jesus. AT strikes again.

Been there. I watch what I post though.

I'm glad I'm older in this digital/social media world. If I were a 20 something I'd probably be in trouble for something stupid that I posted.

I can forgive a 13 year-old for being so stupid, but maybe not so much a 20-something, and certainly not a 30 year-old PR person.

Also, it's not like she posted it in the early days of twitter. This was in 2014... and she was a PR consultant.

But yeah, I hear ya. However, I don't even have a twitter account or a facebook account. My friends and I text, and don't really give a chit what my distant acquaintances are doing so I have no desire to follow them on facebook or twitter. I guess the added benefit is I can't post anything stupid there.

The only reason I ever considered an account was because some stores sometimes have sales promotions that are only accessible through facebook, but in the end that wasn't enough of an incentive for me to sign on.

The crazy thing is I can't tell what you're disagreeing with. That Kevin Smith named his daughter after a comic book character, or that doing so is not in the slightest bit problematic.

Then you're an even bigger moron than I first thought.

Ah OK, I assumed you had something relevant to say.

2) Uh, there is a difference between a fictional character that has been sexualised during the course of her characterisation, and one where being sexualised *is* her characterisation.

Like, would you call your daughter Jessica Rabbit? Jesus. AT strikes again.

Taking your second quote here, I'd say that Jessica Rabbit is an inherently sexualised character whereas Harley Quinn has been sexualised during the course of her characterisation, especially since her former career was as in psychology. According to Wikipedia her character came from the animated series, which absolutely didn't have anything sexual in it.

Honestly, I'm surprised people are objecting to this. Kevin Smith, noted comic book nerd, named his daughter after a character he used to get a woody for

Emphasis on your assumption. Furthermore, Kevin Smith was hardly a teenager when the character was first created.

What is the #1 rule for internet trolls? Don't feed them. What does responding (in ANY way) do? It feeds the troll. It's just like handing out money to panhandlers on street corners. You aren't contributing to solving the problem, if anything you are enticing others - and making the problem worse.

How is this hard for you to understand? There are tons of old statements as to WHY you do NOT respond to them, starting with "Don't argue with an idiot, they will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience". The same holds true here.

Well, what reason is CFP a moron? It certainly can't be because Kevin Smith named his child after a comic character, because Smith did indeed call his kid the namesake of the comic character.

Don't post on twitter/instagram for the public or else you have to expect it. Thick skin, it's needed.

No shit, Sherlock.

You and the other guy need to rub your two brain cells together and figure out how you're missing the point then get back to me once you get it right.

I agree, but I can't help but think that little douche is just a 12 year old that's just going to retort with "FU" and go about his way thinking nothing of it.
