The PS/2 keyboard on my Desktop PC is acting up, last week it refused to type or typed weird characters, so I decided to shut down the PC and check the connection and that seemed to fix the problem.... for a week, yesterday it started all over again, the kb interface is PS/2 and my Laptop has no PS/2 connector so there was no way of checking out the keyboard with my laptop so I went out yesterday and bought a USB connector but the problem is that it Windows XP does not get detect it so now I am stuck as the login screen unable to login without the PS/2 or the USB keyboards.
To see if the USB KB is defective I connected it to my laptop and AFTER the USB KB drivers were automatically installed it worked fine, I also connected both the PS/2 and the USB keyboards to the desktop and booted up with a Linux Live CD and the USB KB works fine but the PS/2 KB doesn't, so right now I assume it's either a problem with the old genB doesn't work without drivers installed first.
Anyway, I guess my option now is to do away with the old XP and install Windows 7, this would have in install the necessary drivers for the USB keyboard and work fine right?
Any other advice?
