Keyboard?

Hey y'all... I'm a newbie who JUST built my first system.... and I'm looking for one of the most important, yet most overlooked parts... a keyboard. Any recommendations? I was thinking of getting one of the Antec Win98 keyboards (I think Alienware uses them)... any other recommendations? I'd prefer black... but i'm not set on it. Thanks for your help!

I'm a touch typist and I play piano. I love tactile "click" feel keyboards My favorite is the basic 104 key Focus 2001. They have a good layout with the large "L" shaped Enter key. At around $25, they're not too expensive, but they're well built, and for me, they really make a difference, compared to most mushy keyboards.

I personally love Keytronics keyboards. I have been using them for about 6 years and I still have the first one I bought. This one comes with a free mouse even.

Check out the Logitech keyboards. I have a cordless desktop for 3.5 years, still using it now, not a single problem at all.

microsoft natural keyboard pro or elite or something like that. those are good if you are a touch typist because it relieves strain (for me, at least). if you type with two fingers, it's worthless. its more expensive than generic keyboards, but lots of people like them. (my argument for them: if you just put your hands in front of you, your hands are not parallel, they are actually at an angle to each other. regular keyboards force you to bend your wrists in painful ways. the split works to the natural contours. going back to regular keyboards hurt!) it takes a few days of getting used to.

as everyone is different, YMMV.

and as an aside, if you are really into typing comfort, go with the dvorak typing layout. its MUCH more comfortable than qwerty.

I love my Logitech Cordless iTouch keyboard, it's probably the nicest keyboard i've ever used! And no, i haven't tried a natural keyboard yet!

I have a Microsoft Keyboard. It's one of the few I can find that doesn't have that damned "L" shaped enter key, and has the "\" above it. I'd like to get a hardware Dvorak keyboard like this, but I don't see it happening.

If you like quiet keyboards (like I do) Id recommend the new Dell Quietkey keyboards or the IBM Rapid Response? series. Both are great and of course nice and quiet.

Damn, I hate to recommend M$ anything, but there you go!

Oh yeah, damn again, they just replaced my Intellimouse Optical after the wheel button jammed up a bit.
