I need a new keyboard (well, I want) for my PC as my old one is a PS2 and suffers from limited key combos ,etc. I am not too familiar with what companies make good keyboards. I figure Logitech probably does and possibly MS. I would like some suggestions for brands for reliability and also suggesions for decent keyboards under 40 bucks. I game some, but I don't care about "gaming features." I just want responsiveness and reliability (i.e. something that will last).

Thanks

Bella

Oops... "decent keyboards under 40 bucks." Forget Bella and get a Logitech.
Keyboards are personal things. Got to a store and play around with some display models to find one that feels good to you.
Then buy it online if it makes $$ sense.

Wired, PS2 connector: Dell QuietKey
Wireless, USB: Logitech (various. shop around for a style you like, as they have all kinds of extra buttons.)

Get the Logitech Wave Link

It's by far the best keyboard I've ever used. Very solid design, and very comfortable. Sure it's a bit higher then your budget, but it's worth the price.

People have varying preferences when it comes to keyboards; as Blain noted, it's a personal thing. So take whatever recommendations you get with that in mind.

Do you prefer mechanical, membrane, chicklet, scissors? Is your tying style mash, mush, light-fingered or something else? Basic keyboard or 30+ programmable keys? In addition, there is the issue of aesthetics - do you care what your keyboard looks like?

Good luck!

Now that I'm home, here's a link to the Logitech wireless one I have. My needs were: soft keys, light weight, as few useless - I mean bonus - feature buttons as possible, and normal size, without the wrist rest or huge protrusions for the extra buttons.

I primarily use a different mouse than the one included here, but it's fairly decent. (Some combos come with very cheap mice.)

Thanks for the suggestions. Will ahve to check these all out.

As far as my typing style, I am not really sure. I probably am not a soft touch typer. I do not want wireless b/c I want to avoid any lag. I also do not care about macro keys. I don't care what the keyboard looks like- i am mnore interested in quality and durability and responsiveness.

$15 Microsoft Comfort Curve 2000. Low profile quiet keys. Best KB I've ever used.

Thanks for the input. I decided on the Reclusa. Got it for 50 bucks shipped which is pretty good I guess, especially considering the place I linked to jacked up the price 10 bux shortly after I purchased it. It came yesterday. I like the feel of the keys and I definitely noticed better control during online play- so much so that i was surprised. I guess I might macro a few things, but i am more used to doing macros in game via the console. I am looking forward to trying it out some more today as i only played with it for about 30 minutes yesterday.

Thanks again
