I saw this deal on here I saw a few more deals for office max on there but none as good as this one. The usual deal I think the blanks are $15 but after MIR they are free. These are the 32x CD's but they are 80Min 700Mb - figured someone might still have use for them, but hey can't argue with free.

Enjoy

Might want to wait a day if purchasing in-store. The first page of OM shopper for my area (starting Sunday Aug 10) has 100 CDRs free after rebate. Brand not listed, and can't find the product on their web site, but based on the logo shown on the ad picture they appear to be Khypermedia also. 80 minute/700MB, $29.99 - $9.99 IR - $12 mfg MIR - $8 OM MIR. Going by the amount of mfg MIR, and this rebate page I believe these are 48X disks.

Warning, do not use Kyphermedia, it sucks. You will botch 1 in 5, maybe 1 in 3 discs on your burner. I bought a new burner, and Kyphermedia cd-r's. I thought my burner was damaged/bad. Turns out it was just the piece of junk media I was using. Just warning you.

Eh, I doubt they can be much worse than these Precision one's that I got from Best Buy on Black Friday. They weigh a lot lighter than most cdrs, and if you hold one up to the light you can see through. I haven't had any problems, just don't use them if you plan on storing anything important (I use them for vcds/svcds and music for my car).

i think it was your junk drive.

i've used hundreds of cheap generic discs with plextor and liteon drives and never had a 1 in 3 failure rate. not even 1 in 50 failure. i don't really remember the last time i burned a dud.

These disks are fine for their rated speed (up to 32x).

In both my lite-on drives (2410b and 5224s), you will get successful burns but alot of c2 (correctable) errors (several 1000's usually). On the other hand, I've burned 48x fuji cdr's at 48x and 52x with fewer than 100 c2 errors per disk.

OM rebates average about 45 days, about the same as Staples. I have received one Khyper rebate so far, a near-record 93 days after mailing.
(Symantec holds the record in my experience with 111 days turn around with Firewall and 120 days with Internet Security, both purchased at Staples.)

Warning, this guy's full of crap. I've gone through a plethora of these CDs on my LiteOn with no problems whatsoever.

I think it all depends on. I have LiteOn Drive, and when I burn music on cheap CDs, it tends to skip. Especially after 6-9 months, some of the CDs are not even readable anymore on my CD walkman and car CD player. On the other hand, if I play them on the computer, everything seems fine. In my experience, Fuji (Taiyo Yuden) seems to be the best.

KHypermedia - YUCK!

Had some older 8x that were absolutely junk, then recently I gave in and bought
a 50pk for FAR.
40x
"700Mg 80 Minute" printed on CD-R

UH-UH!

Only 650 Mg!!!!!! And imagine this: KHypermedia's website is apparently dust.
Hmmm.... a lot of KHypermedia recorders out there with no link to mfr.
Thought y'all might like to know.

And you've tested these discs on all brands and models of burners to verify that they indeed work with "no problems whatsoever" on all of them? Or are you just basing your biased opinion off the same thing he is...what your experience has been with your particular burner(s)? Using your logic, I guess that means you're full of crap too.

Let's not be so short-sighted. I have discs that work fine on a couple other burners, but choke on my LiteOn.

Getting a CDR ID of these discs would help a lot more. They're not going to be quality discs, but at least people can get an idea of whether it'll work OK with their burner or not.

I experienced this exact same thing. Bought a 50-pack of KHypermedia that were stamped 700MB, and every burner that I tried them in (and I have a lot of burners available) reported the media as only 650MB. On top of that, I did have a few failed burns with the media. It is an extremely rare occurance for me to have a failed burn.

At free-after-rebate, the price is right, I guess. I would rather spend $4 or $5 after rebate for some decent media, though.

Have 100's on them from last year around black friday and they're OK. They're generic and lower quality than Fuji(TY) or Kodak for example.
Lots of "C2" correctable errors detected, so even though you don't loose data they're inferior quality.
I used mine mostly for "short term" data and always turn the "verify data after burning" option on. On my old Creative drive, I'd get 1 in 20 or so duds. Never had a dud on my Samsung, BenQ or LiteOn burners.
A friend of mine however swears that he's ran tests and that these CDs degrade over time, so that he wouldn't trust data that need sto last years to those CDs.
I have enough CDRs now that I can wait for TYs to come on sale for very low or FAR, so I'm buying TYs exclusively from now on, while I burn through my reserve of KHypermedia and other no-name CDs.

I concur with Mrshags I bought some khypermedia and had 3 of 5 bad burns on my liteon. I promptly returned the media to the store as I have never had a failure rate that high before.

I had a Lite-on 48x12x48 at the time and had hundreds of successful burns with HP, TDK, Memorex, Fuji media I used to like khypermedia several years ago, but the quality is not what it used to be. Just because the media works for some people it does not mean that it will work for everyone. The fact that several people here have had HORRIBLE failure rates indicates that maybe this is not the best media to buy even if it is free after rebate.
