Kid Cudi - anyone a fan?

I've always been a rock guy, and don't listen to all that much hip-hop. The kind I do, well... it varies across the board of all things rap/hip-hop - except for the most popular rappers these days, tend not to enjoy what they have to offer.

Mind you, I don't even classify Kid Cudi as a member of the "Rap/Hip-hop" genre. It's more like Alt-Rap, a kind of Alt-scene approach to hip-hop.

His lyrics are basically all the product of an Introvert. Probably why I like them, because I can easily see many people thinking those lyrics are boring.

ive heard him praised, but never really checked out his music. just looking at those lyrics it seems like "bummed out" music. im usually more into more upbeat lyrics, or at least lots of drug/women talk.

The music that accompanies the music is a fun listen, and some might feel the lyrics ruin what could be great beats or musical style.

But, like most music of the Alt-scene, most of his songs are not club-material. That's kind of why I like this music in the way I like a lot of rock music.

anyways, i think Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager is a phenomenal cd, through and through.

Also, i would classify him more as a psychadelic-rap guy... the lyrics, the music... its pretty much exactly what you need to go on a vacation with.

anyways, i think Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager is a phenomenal cd, through and through.

When you combine spacey background beats, and the lyrics of introverted thinking, it tends to definitely be a good track for inroad adventures.

I wouldn't really consider him psychedelic, it's just kind of "spacey". But he's as introverted as you can possibly be, if you take his lyrics and interviews as pure honesty.
Of course, the music itself will make or break the effort, but it seems the big-name introverts always lend a hand for those soul-searching adventures.

Look at Incubus for example, specifically the Make Yourself album, which is another favorite of mine.

I wouldn't doubt it. Drugs in general seem to be his thing, which when it comes to my taste in music, I can hardly disprove.

Drugs and music just go hand in hand. You don't have to take drugs to enjoy music, but for my tastes in music, it most certainly helps if the artist has dabbled here and there.

I'm not a big rap guy, but Man on the Moon II is brilliant.

All great tracks, in order of my liking: Erase Me, MANIAC, GHOST!, Scott Mescudi vs. the World, REVOFEV, Marijuana, Mr. Rager, The Mood

Mostly I just like rapping Kanye's verse in Erase Me, which makes me like it disproportionately.

I never listened to him till Man on the Moon II cuz my friend had it on heavy rotation and I like. I'm not a huge hip hop head, but I listen to it pretty prolifically (if we compare me to the average person) and it's always crazy how much good stuff is out there that I still haven't discovered.
